In all seriousness, it is valid to want express that you're proud of your family and hometown/homestate/homeland. It is valid to say that you're proud of being Southern but not proud of what the South has done. It's fine to sing sad, terrible songs about how you can't wear your Confederate T-shirt/Swastika armband/Klan hood. Just don't expect anyone to feel sorry for your misguided ass. The country is still a white-centric patriarchy in which minorities are underrepresented in government and media.

It's not what he said is terribly wrong, even though it is quite stupid. "Derp, I didn't even realize the confederate flag could be considered offensive, I just like Skynard!". That is just flat out dumb.

The worst part is how completely terrrrrrrible the song is. It really is something straight out of a South Park episode.

I agree he's an idiot. He also plays terrible music.

I disagree with what I'm assuming Sheikh Zula is implying with the picture.

Two guys being honest about their backgrounds and wanting to talk.

Yep, they should be demonized.

Also, blame Jason Aldean and Ludacris for the country/rap debacle... Dirt Road Anthem was actually a decent song when it was a duet between them... but this is just a terrible song... both in concept and in writing/arrangement....

you have everybody pegged SZ

at the mention of the word racist, you come running with your typical KKK photos.

your credibility is waning if you see 95% of Americans as members of the Klan.

you come off that way, at least.

It seems your answer to race relaations is name calling and accusations. At least LL and BP did something.

I don't listen to "twangy" country or "thumping" rap. Don't care for either, but when reading their interview and the words, it seemed fairly honest. Not sure songs are the best way to get a message like that out, but it is their venue, so have at it.

If race relations got better overnight, would you indeed be happy? Or would be void leave you looking for answers?

For trying to make country and rap work successfully together... I'm sure it's probably been done before them too, but they probably came the closest to making it work in recent memory...

TBQH I'm more insulted that Toby Keith can still sell is commercially motivated, pro-drinking, jingoistic records than I am about Brad Paisley and LL doing a crappy song together...
