Keenan Allen's 40 time; 4.71, Luke Kuechly's 40 time; 4.5. Anyone concerned by Allen's speed? (Or lack thereof)

I am not concerned enough to say no to drafting him.

If you guys want college production then Steadmam Bailey is your guy.

If you want straight line speed then it's Austin.

If you want the most complete football player then it's Allen IMO.

Perspective is everything, watching his games tells you his college o-line and QB were the worst of any top 10 WR prospect by a mile considering their competition was in the PAC-10 not division 2 opponents.

I don't mind people who have their personal taste and dislike him but some of you have compared him to Dwayne Jarrett and acted as if he should go undrafted and that discredits anything you say about him IMO.

Bottom line, I still like him better than any other WR our there personally and have objectively watched every snap of his available online. I am not going to make any wild guarantees about him or any other prospect and ignore you guys who do.

Does anyone learn from the past? Same arguments for Dewayne Jarrett who slipped bc of his 40 and was more productive on the field.

Plenty of HE PLAYS LIKE he runs 4.4 on the field.

Comparing Allen to Jarrett is completely shortsighted at best....

The more concerning thing is that he only had 1...thats right...1 100 yard receiving game this year. Actually he only has 1 100 yard receiving game since 10/13/2011. So that is 15 out of his last 16 games he was held under 100 yards...and runs a 4.7...it is all pretty damn concerning.

I can understand the concern, but the guy had someone on The Golden Calf of Bristol's status or worse throwing to him. That QB he had was absolutely terrible.

We need a wide receiver that can take the top off the defense. We already have a possession receiver in LaFell. I am with those that say that Allen isn't really much of an upgrade over what we already have. Why did we pick up Ginn for example?? Because he has straight line speed. Why did we hold onto Gettis?? You can't coach speed. Either you have it or you don't. Of course speed isn't everything but you need a receiver who can complement what you already have not duplicate it.

In a vertical offense you have to get down field in a hurry to avoid putting your quarterback in a vulnerable spot. We already have possession guys we need speed guys given that Hixon and Gettis are both coming off ACL injuries and LaFell is a possession guy. Allen doesn't bring that much to the table we don't already have.

So with that said, they will pick him for sure.

How many receivers coming off knee injuries do we need??

If we draft Allen that would be 3. Given our great history dealing with knee injuries over the years, why would we do that to ourselves???

The truth are in the numbers which are on cams side. You just like to troll and be contrarian so it makes you feel important. I'll let you in on a little secret though. You aren't important

According to PFF only 4 receivers had 15 or more receptions of 20 yards or more in the air. The most was 21 with megatron.

1 of those guys was Reggie Wayne and Greg Cossell loves to compare Allen to him.

So really how fuging important is timed speed with no pads or defensive coverage?

At 14, a slow possession receiver with an injury history would be damn near rage worthy. I would probably look something like this...for real.

dwayne jarrett failed because he racked up DUIs and didn't want to put in the work to make it in the NFL

I have, Allen isn't fast. He'll make a defender miss on occasion but don't count on Keenan doing that in the NFL. He's a Michael Crabtree.

I'll take a Crabtree anyday of the week
