Awesome, I'm glad to have gotten to know him on a personal level during his breif tenure as the ST coach at Liberty. He was obviously a great player but a better person/father/Christian. He took a few good coaches and LU's backup QB with him to Campbell, he'll have that program turned around in no time.

Minter was probably the most punishing hitter on the team until Thomas Davis was drafted, and even then it was debatable.

Chris "Hitman" Harris, anyone?

Yea I was gonna say Chris Harris. I still remember one hit in particular against the Giants. Ball was on the two yd line and they tried to just power it in with Jacobs (back when he was one of the more punishing RBs in the league) and Harris met him 1 on 1 at the one yard line. Crushing hit that stopped Jacobs cold and the both fell sideways. I think the Giants scored the next play anyway but it was a great hit by Harris.

Minter should have made the pro-bowl in 2003. He was above average for a lot of his career. 2002 was not bad either.

Mike Minter is one of those guys I think that should be in consideration for either the ring of honor or a statue. He was that important for a long time. I always thought he should have made a pro bowl but guys like Brian Dawkins and Roy Williams were playing big time high profile football.

Am I the only one that thinks him coming back now would be an upgrade?

I think you forget how slow he looked and how often he was getting burned towards the end.
