Does Mathieu get it?

Jay Glazer reported yesterday that Tyrann Mathieu recently cancelled two pre-draft visits claiming illness.

PFT further reported that on a visit he did make, Mathieu made a lousy impression on a veteran player who had overcome his own off-the-field issues. The player said he came off as more interested in how much money he was going to make than in being a good player and that he didn't seem all that enthused about hard work.

Now, one day after the report of his being too sick for draft visits, he's inviting people to come party with him. The instagram invitation lists him as "First Round Draft Pick Tyrann Mathieu, aka Honey Badger" (this after saying he was trying to move on from the nickname and the image associated with it).

So you tell me, is Mathieu just a kid with a big personality or is he a numbskull that just doesn't get it?

He does not get it. Id love to have the player but he cannot be trusted and we have 3 nicklebacks already.

Unfortunately, he is a mixture of both. Ego + Immaturity is a bad mix. It will take more jail, being cut and on the brink of being banned for this kid to get it.

Don't think he gets it. After reports that he was unmotivated to even play in the National Championship game (which was evident considering he was targeted the whole game and got destroyed). This push is clearly a money grab, since he knows this is his last chance to make a lot of money(to buy a lot of weed). Too small, too weak, too weak minded, and doesn't have his priorities straight. We have enough small nickel corners, do not want.

I had actually forgotten about his reportedly saying he didn't want to play in the National Championship game.

His "after party" is scheduled for Thursday night in a New York City nightclub. I do wonder if he really believes he'll be taken in the first round. If so, I think he's in for a rude awakening.

He doesn't give a poo...

That joke is getting old, just like his off-field behavior.

I think he'll get drafted... but it won't be in the first...

Someone may take a chance on him in the 3rd, but probably he'll be in the 4th-5th.

He's a talent, but no... I don't think he gets it.

50/50 chance he's busted for pot his first season.

I'd love him in a late round. Dude has a crazy nose for the football....but damnit if hes not one of the dumbest people I've ever seen. I think he could be a great NFL player if he actually grew up from his past. He's still living his LSU days, and he needs to move on past the college lifestyle.

Dudes with all the potential in the world that throw it away frustrate me.

If you have an opportunity to play in the NFL, and you can barely give a fug? You don't deserve it. GTFO

If the Panthers take him in round four or five, how do you react?

There's an evil little part of my mind that wants to see him drafted by the Jets.

The resultant circus would likely be something Jerry Springer would find too ridiculous to watch.

I would be pumped... personally. I think he would be great value from mid-3rd round on.

Although he might not "get it." There have been multiple impact players that had successful careers and never "got it."

Optimistic.

Give him a curfew. Ban him from all clubs. Take away Twitter. Force him to take piss tests once a week.

I really hope the Falcons pull the trigger, talk about a locker room destroyer.

Sad, honestly.

Wonder how much money he has borrowed from his agent already?

Whoever made that invitation must have been on that Honeybadger. Calling for him to be a first round pick is laughable.

In the end though, we won't know "if he gets it" until next season. Some team will take a shot on him, and dude is a hell of a playmaker. I personally would love to take him if he was there in the 4th.
