Both D-lines also had good role in players with Frank Alexander and Al Wallace..... so which is your preference?

My personal vote is the Peppers/Ruck lead d-line

Just based off history you have to go with the Peppers/Ruck dline. Potential? The CJ/Hardy/Star line has so much potential though. However potential never made a tackle.

Let them play a game on the field. The draft isn't even over either. The DT class is so deep we could get another in the 4th. But comparing this D-Line to the D-Line that took us to the Super Bowl is just dumb

would have to ask that question once Star develops...

today, you would have to pick the old DL purely b/c of DT play. DE play is a push.

Not even a question right now. it's gotta be that 02/03 unit. But the potential and youth of this group is exciting.

Would like to see Star play at least a few snaps and Hardy show some consistency before I get too excited.

But the potential is there for sure.

if star can be 3/4 of jenkins, we will be leaps and bound past the 03 line

OP, were you a Panthers fan for the 03 run?

That d line blocked PATs for wins

Yes I do remember when Jenkins blocked the PAT against Tampa

Yeah that Dline from 2003 was a beast. They blocked quite a few FGs that year. Also that line made our average cbs look good. It is way too early to compare. They haven't played together yet but of course you have to go with the line that got us to our first superbowl

Pretty sure that is what the team is counting on this year. Good pass rush makes average CB's look great. Much easier to be a corner when you don't have to cover for more than 3 seconds.

Yea, it's too early to say Star will be as effective as Jenkins. I'd take our current tandem of DEs over the old pair, but the old DTs were head and shoulders above what we KNOW about our DTs right now. If Star comes close to his potential, it'll become a landslide in favor of our current DL.

We need to see Star play before anyone can honestly answer this... but on paper what we have right now looks pretty good.

Peppers and Jenkins were special talents, but I think the aggregate talent level of our current line (on paper) is > the aggregate talent level of the '03 line.
