Carolina Panthers select LB AJ Klein.

Gettleman believes that if you stack the lines the rest of the players get better.

It's a theory that will be tested next year

It's a theory/approach that's worked out numerous times over the past decade, including Carolina in 2003.

It is amazing to me that people would complain when we have two linebacker that are struggling with injuries plus no depth and we were able to draft possibly the best linebacker in the Big 12 the last 2 season in the 5th round.

Yeah i know. At the same time you can't just say I'm going to keep throwing fatties at our lines until we win a Superbowl. It's more complex obviously.

But i agree with 2003 Panthers for sure

We currently have a broken arm that is called our secondary. Currently we're down at Rite aid shopping for a cast. There's a lot of arm casts there but we're buying a cast for our leg just because it's higher quality. Sounds like a winning plan to me.

We're buying a leg cast because we have a broken leg. McClain and Fua stink and it's pretty clear that Gettleman has quickly reached the same conclusion. We have two linebackers who've spent half their careers in street clothes and no depth at the position. I hope we're done drafting guys with physical talent who can't learn a playbook.

I'm cool with the Klein pick for depth reasons. Now there's Luke/Beason/TD/Blackburn/Klein/Senn. That's a good core.

.just like every team passed on Brady and Cruz, that tv from the Broncos, hardy, Jake delhomme, lol and massive list of other players thatade huge impacts.

Given that every team keeps passing on them should tell all if us that there is something majorly wrong with them

fug fliers in the secondary. Give me a pick that would CONTINUE to sure up our NASTy front seven. People who are butthurt over Gettleman's drafting drafting can GTFO. We arent the Panzi Panthers anymore. WE will hit you in the mouth a teebag you all day long!

The Blackburn signing, plus this pick leads me to believe that Gettleman knows that Beason and/or Davis won't be here much longer. Whether it's health concerns, ability concerns, or something else. Gettleman is preparing for the future by taking a player with a much higher grade on him.

"Oh our secondary sucks" "Wtf man our secondary is a broken arm"

GTFO . Like you know!? Ima trust the guy who evaluated our secondary and is puting this team together to fit our scheme.

WE ARE OBVIOUSLY FINE in the secondary.

if there was a glaring hole that we could not live without being filled, Gettleman would fix it. At the end of the day, Gettleman will not field a team that had such a glaring whole. There is still FA. We have all summer to "fill that hole" . IMHO, our safetys are gunna surprise many of you. Godfrey+ Mitchel paired with our now KILLER front seven will surprise

That theory has won Superbowls. He knows first hand.

Its not much of a theory its sort of a proven fact.

Can you name me a wildly successful QB that isn't decently protected?

Many teams have had sustained success on defense simply from great defensive line play.

Also Tom Brady, Aaron Rodgers, Eli Manning, Joe Flacco and Brees win superbowls without first round talent receivers while Larry Fitzgerald and Calvin Johnson are usually watching the playoffs from home.

$$$

Sorry but even if Beason returns to his old form we can't afford him and he will be the odd man out with needing to pay Hardy and Cam.

It's a good starting philosophy but it's never that easy.

If it were I could be a GM in the NFL.

NFL teams are businesses man, office politics play as much if not more than actual knowledge of the field at hand. So many teams and GMs get caught up in the same things and hype we see from the media as fans. I mean we took Jimmy Clausen even though literally every other team in the NFL saw how poor of a prospect he was.
