2012: Panthers ranked 1st in opponents yards per completion

I think some of you guys are misunderstanding. Our average yards per completion was the lowest in the NFL, as in that's a good thing. We gave up 9.6 per and the last place team (KC) gave up 12.7 per.

Just tweeted out by Colin and Travis at WFNZ and I had to do a double take. Panthers were tops in the league in opponents yards per completion. Link to stats below.

Does this make you feel better about our secondary? It sure makes me feel better. Especially with us drafting two Hog Mollies to plug up the middle.

Notice the huge improvement from 2011 in that regard too.

Now imagine that teams find it harder to pass due to constant pass pressure and we could conceivably improve further.

I think we can easily have a top 10 defense next year. It is finishing games out that needs to be addressed, and hoping our guys stay healthy.

We were ranked 12th? or something defense last year. FA moves and draft should keep us in the top half, with top 10 being a very good possibility.

Maybe rivera has been able to coach up the secondary when he's had more time to implement his system.

Not too hard to believe when opposing QBs had forever to make decisions due to our poor front 7. Lots of check downs to RBs and gashes down the middle by TEs will do that.

That's funny. The front 7 was the bright spot and the biggest reason we gave up the FEWEST yards per completion. We weren't great at DT, but that's different now.

Solution:

CB #1 retires

Draft DT, DT, G, LB, RB

Sounds like a plan!

You have no idea that was a good stat do you?

Doesnt surprise me at all. I have said our secondary is better than people here think. You also have to separate the first half versus the second half of the season.
