And in 2011 with a healthy gamble, we were 30th.

Go figure.

opponents had their highest completion % against the panthers.

the team is high on the group of cbs that they have though. I'm intrigued by how the Josh's have improved.

Not to burst the bubble but the team also had the highest completion percentage against. Giving up the least yards per completion is kinda negated when opponents complete almost 70% of their passes. Our secondary was still bad.

Here is an interesting stat from the same site...

Opponents completion % - Carolina - 32nd.

We were super easy to throw on...teams did just didn't go for big plays on us (probably bc the pass rush prevented the deep verticals)...but they had tons of success throwing.

You need to look at more than 1 stat.....opponents had the best completion % throwing on us. all the pass rush did was stop the big plays

Here is another tidbit compliments of Colin.

@ColinWFNZ: @TBoneWFNZ @95KeepPounding Last year, Panthers played 7 games against top 10 QBs in comp%. This season (based on last year's stats) only 3.

Makes sense when you look at the 10-15 yard cushion our DBs give receivers. The ol' keep everything in front of you defense. That killed us in the Chicago game. 9.6 yards at a time...

not at all.

opponents yards per completion is a pretty obscure stat and is far from the entire picture. if someone watches all 16 of our games and comes out saying our secondary wasn't a problem then that person is either blind or retarded.

If we can learn how to cover a TE watch out. Any stats on most yards given up to TE's?

But we were like 15th in pass per attempt.

http://espn.go.com/n...osition/defense

Which I think was pretty good for what we had, and what we lost. And as the season got better I think those guys got better. Mix in a better the benefit of having a better DL and I think we got something here.

actually it is a 5 way tie for 11th as 5 teams give up 6.9 yards per attempt.
