not sure why the world needs to care about what he does to be honest.

Yep, who cares?

I totally agree. Why do gay people need to keep announcing to the world that they are gay. They act like they need special attention or something. Who cares whether you are gay or not. You have the same rights whether people know it or not. Get a life. I just don't see why gay people don't get the picture. People don't care if your gay and people are getting tired of you wanting special attention and stuff. Bottom line stop dropping the hints and go live your life the you want to. I'm not against people living the way they want. Just tired of hearing it in the news day in and day out. Plain and simple.

i wish breeders like you would quit putting wedding announcements and birth announcements in the newspaper. its like breeders need special attention or something. who cares whether you are married or cranking out poop machines. get a life. i just don't see why breeders don't get the picture. people don't care whether you married your high school sweetheart and people are getting tired of breeders wanting special attention. bottom line stop dropping the hints and go live your life the way you want to. i'm not against people living the way they want. just tired of an entire section of the newspaper being used to promote and advertise heterosexual unions. plain and simple.

hypocrite.

It strikes me that it does not require much courage to come out of the closet when your NBA career is basically over.  He is old and barely played this past season.  If Lebron James came out that might take some courage with what he could potentially lose but Collins really has nothing at stake.

If you are going to be hostile about your opinion, then maybe you shouldn't post it. I was seriously wondering if you were serious or not, because that post had "bigotry" all over it in my opinion. It honestly looked like you were trolling because of how much hate I saw in your post. I won't bash your opinion, and I never intended to do so, but will you stop and consider that the only reason it is a big deal is because people like you make it out as such? I mean, things like "they have the same rights as anyone else", "get a life", "I just don't see why gay people don't get the picture", etc. They aren't asking for "special attention". The only reason it gets special attention is because people make it out to be a big deal because being homosexual is against their beliefs (be it religious or otherwise). Lastly, I don't know why you are "tired of hearing about it", because he is the first active male athlete to come out of the closet (so to speak), so it's not like there are cases of this happening every day as you say.

Anyways, everyone will have an opinion, and I won't put mine over yours or anyone else's. We will just have to have our differences.

Its cliche but hate is a strong word. That guys post was not filled with hate. And no, I do not agree with his post.

You do realize that is Old Testament prophecy, correct?

We are under a new covenant...

Jesus said in Luke 22:20, "This cup which is poured out for you is the new covenant in My blood."

His dying for our sins is that "new covenant", which is why Christians don't follow the old testament "set of rules" if you will.

Hebrews 8:13 says the following "When He said, 'A new covenant,' He has made the first obsolete (referring to the old testament "set of rules"). But whatever is becoming obsolete and growing old is ready to disappear."

I'd also like to point out that I am a Christian, but I don't condemn people to hell (that is God's job) and I don't judge (that is also God's job). I have many gay friends and they are just like my other friends; we laugh, plays sports and have a great time. They are human beings just like the rest of us and they wanted to be treated like that. The media has a sick idea that gay people want special attention but in fact, they just want to live their lives like the rest of us. I don't agree with their life choice but I'm not a bigot and I'm not going to condemn them to hell because they are gay. Instead, I pray that God will show his love through me.

Just thought I would share with you guys.

If you ever knew somebody who came out, you would know just how difficult it is. One of my dad's best friends came out and he was shun by his entire family. When I hear people say that it's a choice, I want to ask... who would choose to be shun by their mom and dad?

Still, I agree with you. This isn't some superstar coming out but it's a start. I would wonder what would happen, if it was a player in the middle of a HUGE contract? A guy with four years left, maybe thirty million due? What then? NBA contracts are guaranteed  Collins at least was in a position where the NBA can either accept him or he can move on and I will recognize that.

WIll somebody sign him now? I doubt it. Not because he isn't good (he's 7' feet tall and a decent player, even as a backup at veteran minimum), but when you think of the media circus that came with The Golden Calf of Bristol, well, Collins is going to be on a whole other level!

I like how you slipped "choice" into the discussion....but that is another disucssion.

Since you are not a bigot you are ok with them getting married because as you said you have lots of gay friends and you want those friends to be able to marry the person they love and to have the same privileges and rights that straight married couples have, correct?
