I don't think he would have announced this if he were currently employed by a playoff team.

Bobcats should sign him. Maybe he can toughen up a majority of Their players.

you think players might be a little skittish about backing up on him to get closer to the basket?

Would that be a 3 shot foul?

Everyone who works. I don't care where!! Rather it be at Walmart, Taco Bell, a teacher, whereever the fu(k it is better come out and tell the world that they're GAY!!!

This is ridiculous. Sport players are having to come out to the entire world to share their personal life? C'mon.

Still waiting on the first NBA player to come out as a heterosexual.

I don't understand the concept of 'coming out'. If you are homosexual and not afraid of judgement from your peers, go out and about with your homosexual partner, eventually someone will see you.

Going out of your way to declare it seems self-centered. Why didn't he just attend all-star weekend holding hands with Steve?

I have no real feeling on this... Congrats for him. I have no issue with it and think this huge "publicity" makes it a bigger deal than it really is. Let business be business and whatever your personal life is be whatever you choose.

Here is my only thought on the issue, he is a FA. He has been a decent pro for many yrs now but his playing time is coming to an end. Now if he is not signed by a team this will turn into a mess. Even if not his intent this will undoubtedly become a gay rights issue... Now I wait and see

Its about being able to come out and frame the conversation the way you want it as opposed to people talking and speculating about your sexuality behind your back.

If he does it your way, what happens?  Someone snaps a picture, rumors get started, and eventually some reporter calls him up and asks him if he is gay.  If he just lives his life normally the question will eventually come up.  Its a big story because no active athlete in the US has ever admitted to being gay, you cant just act casually about it and expect no one to care because people do care

I'm really happy he feels he can be honest with the league and I'm happy people are supporting him. If people were to ridicule him, I would be immensely disappointed in the league and it's fans.

However, I feel that athletes don't need to express their sexual orientation because us as fans, should not care that much. I mean, if Kobe was homosexual, and fans didnt like him anymore, that would be awful. A players sexual orientation should NOT change how people think of him or act around him. I don't want any trouble or humiliation by insults for any players who do admit it. And since their athletes, celebrities, politicians, whatever, we as fans, etc should not care. Not as in we don't care out of apathy or hatred, we shouldnt care because it isn't any of our business. I'm NOT saying we shouldn't care he admitted it. I'm saying we shouldn't care (ie dont treat him differently, etc) because he is. It is none of our business. But it is nice to see how accepting the world is.

I am not aware of any of his accomplishments and he played seldom for the Hawks. I am sick and tired of this gay craze in America. It seems if someone isn't a homosexual they are worthless. The Bible firmly condemns those who practice homosexuality and therefore I am opposed to it and get tired of seeing it glorified. Those are my thoughts and I know most people who are ignorant of the Scriptures probably think it is great. I don't. I Corinthians 6 and 7 make it plain that homosexuality is a sin.

I think it's cool that he feels comfortable coming out and I think it's great that so many players are supporting, but frankly I don't care. i've said this before and i'm gonna say it again, if a guy can ball a guy can ball. I'll only judge a player by what he does on the court, I don't care about his social life. it's his dick he can put it wherever he wants.
