panthers55 5,710 Report post Posted May 2, 2013 OK, but shouldn't the players who were benched now be released as they were the reason we were losing? Who are those players and why are they still on the roster? We will take over 80 guys into camp. Lets see how they do in July and August. On the other hand Gettleman thinks that Norman for example learned from being benched and will be playing with a chip on his shoulder. I will take a wait and see attitude. Swaggasaurus 972 Report post Posted May 2, 2013 Better playcalling, more pro style sets is by far the biggest reason for the turn around. Followed by the benching of Josh Norman.

ItsPantone278 991 Report post Posted May 2, 2013 Luke at Mike. Cam getting back on track. General overall growth under a new green group of coaches.. sophomore QB/HC.. Weaker schedule.
Tarheels23 849 Report post Posted May 2, 2013 Naka never got benched, he had a season ending Injury, which scares me like hell, because I don't want that dude anywhere near a panthers uniform ever again. He's on the Nick Hayden/Jimmy Clausen list He needs to be running his own dojo somewhere.
OneBadCat 2,340 Report post Posted May 2, 2013 We finally had some luck go our way instead of god cheating us. Some of our losses were just pure baffling. We were the better team in many of those losses.
iamhubby1 3,623 Report post Posted May 2, 2013 Let's take this a step further. IMO, we started winning because we were getting better. Fewer penalties and mistakes at inappropriate moments. Better overall play and play-calling. And a team that was playing for each other, and their coaches. Put it all together and we were just a better football team at the end of the year than we were at the beginning of the year. So we deserved to win the games we won. We beat teams we were supposed to beat. And a couple of teams we maybe shouldn't have beat. We had a young team, it just took them some time to learn to win. If we can continue to build upon that momentum. This is going to be a very good year in Panther Nation. So yeah. GOOOOOOOO CATS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! KendrickPanther 7,394 Report post Posted May 2, 2013 Strength of schedule helped but it wasn't the only thing. We had better play calling. Better game management. Cam was playing more relaxed. Our Dline was wreaking havoc. No Nakamura and no Josh Norman. Our backup linebackers improved to the point they were more effective than Beason was. Better use of our running backs. Keep in mind we lost a ton of games in the 4th quarter regardless of competition. We were only destroyed twice all season. So don't sit here and tell me we couldn't hang with the big boys, because we did.
