-----

Three in 10 registered American voters believe an armed rebellion might be necessary in the next few years, according to the results of a staggering poll released Wednesday by Fairleigh Dickinson University’s PublicMind.

The survey, aimed at measuring public attitudes toward gun issues, found that 29 percent of Americans agree with the statement, “In the next few years, an armed revolution might be necessary in order to protect our liberties.” An additional five percent were unsure.

Eighteen percent of Democrats said an armed revolt “might be necessary,” as compared to 27 percent of independents and 44 percent of Republicans. Support levels were similar among males and females but higher among less educated voters.

That means 2/3 of people think that it will never be necessary.

I dont see what the big deal is, I plan on fomenting an insurrection sometime around August.  Maybe even late July if things come together

I've never really thought that an actual revolution/rebellion could happen in my lifetime, but I do think it is possible I'll see things like economic collapse, dwindling natural resources, natural disasters, new diseases, and other things that can have a similar effect on the American landscape.

I bet if this same question were asked in any other decade during any other administration the numbers would look familiar.

Why would you wish this to happen?

Honestly.

I blame the increasingly radical right-wing propaganda machine that's using social media venues to disseminate brainless sentiments to a populace too brainless to analyze it critically.

Aren't American History & Politics always 1/3?

IIRC my Am. History teacher told me that 1/3 wanted to Rebel against Britain, 1/3 wasn't sure, 1/3 didn't. Par for the course in the USA.

I wonder if some of these folks want a rebellion to finally put an end to systemic racism, and obtain some economic equality?

I don't literally want it to happen. But the thinking is if there was an armed rebellion, those rebelling would be jailed or killed. I wouldn't shed a tear for them.

what makes you think that these people wouldn't succeed?

Tea-Party-Protest.jpg

could it be that they're old, out of touch, and so desperate to preserve the status quo that many of them would never actually put their lives on the line for their "cause"? probably
