Rivera wants to limit star to 30 snaps a game.

For some reason I get the feeling if the op said 20-25 snaps a game the responses would be the same.

Suh played 1000 snaps his rookie year, Marcell Dareus played 750, and the best DT's in the game average 700+. According pff.

Not saying I wanna kill him his first year but damn if he truly is a 3 down player, 30 is a little light.

Perhaps a little light. But we also have a very deep rotation. I'm not saying I would want him to be on a definite snap count, but more the coaches being conscious about how much he plays. He obviously looked winded in some of his college games being out there that much. It will make our defense better overall to keep people fresh. Think about the 4th quarter defensive losses last year. I think some of that can be attributed to the d line being winded. Just food for though.

If that's what it takes to keep Star in the rotation 100% the entire game then I'm OK with it. We still have Dwan and Kawaan to man the other downs.

Let's not forget Hardy can play DT on passing downs. Honestly I don't think it will hinder us if Star is limited in snaps initially.

there are a couple reasons for the rotation according to RR.

One is so that Hardy doesn't have to move over to DT on passing downs.

Because Star is 320 pounds. He's a big guy. Big guy's need rest to make a consistent impact. Obviously this is two fold. If we need him in the game, he's gonna play. But keeping a rotation will be key to consistent pressure.

And Dwan is supposed to be any lighter?

I'd be laughed off the board if I said we lost games in the 4th cause our DT's were not rested enough last year.

twenty pounds lighter and about the same height. 20 lbs means a world of difference.

when he's worn out he's not as effective.

In the interview with Kirwin today RR said they belive in a rotation on the DL.

Which will help all of them...........especially our DB's.

PS.....I listened to the entire interview and did not hear anything about "30" snaps per game.

Yea, that's very true.

But I would assume that if he were to get 40-50 snaps this season, that's still a lot less than what he got at UTAH.

I didn't say that was the main cause. Just that it could be attributed to that.

Star is currently at 310-311.

Is Dwan really 290??

    • It's because you, unlike the op and the posters above are sane.
    • Fornette is much more talented than Davis.  Adrian Peterson is more like it even if AD is shifter and Fornette is bigger more powerful.    Now, just wondering if Fornette will be hurt like AD has been much of the time.
    • who gives a poo about character development? i was 3-5 years old. i only care for the nostalgia. it's going to be hard to inject that into a show that was so obviously geared towards children. it would be like sesame street spending a whole season having elmo ponder his existence in the universe and his own sexuality.    plus most of the main cast got replaced by the third season. i should know. i have a green ranger and white ranger beeper. i was not watching it by the time they switched him to the red ranger. but i was such a big fuging fan of the green ranger. i wanted long hair like he had at that time. yeeeaaaaaaahhhhhhhhh
