Panthers 2013: WE CAN DO IT! WE CAN BE AVERAGE! (in the secondary)

Well we won with terry cousins. Front seven is good deodorant on secondary BO

He clearly outplayed some others we've run out there recently, like Josh Norman, Darius Butler and the Captain (when he played outside). He is much better than people give him credit for, and I think Norman will have a hard time unseating him.

I'm glad you have an opinion and you can predict the future.

What's truly the point of this douchebaggery and trollery?

What's truly the point of this douchebaggery and trollery?

it's his purpose in life and the only way he can get any attention?

that's my guess anyway. i don't think he's very good at it, tho. people rarely notice, much less respond.

I think Thomas and Florence will be our starters to begin the season. Hopefully Norman can overtake Florence at some point

Would be nice to have Norman step up, and allow Florence be a rotation player.  I think that would be the best way to utilize Florence anyway, because of his age, be nice to have him fresh by the end of the year.

Enjoyed this thread last year....when Nakamura was going to be our dark horse

Not a valid comparison. We've seen some of Thomas' potential. Naka was just wishful thinking.

JT plays hungry, and I like that. I'm not sure how our secondary is going to shake out, but I got a strong feeling JT will be one of the day 1 starters.

Quite the small sample size to say Josh Thomas more productive than Chris Gamble.  Gamble has been the most underrated Panther that I can think of.

I am very optimistic that he can be one corner.I am less optimistic about the other corner position

Everyone has been downing our secondary, but this guy's a player. He's extremely physical and he's a great tackler. It's only natural I suppose from our perspective to get a little worried when a big name player goes away. (Chris Gamble) But Josh's statistical projections from last year are more impressive then Gamble's. Josh Thomas did play in all 16 games last year but mainly as a light rotational player, so most of his year statistics comes from the 4 games he started at the end of the year. Either way he's a CB that in his limited role last year had 35 tackles, 27 solo, with 7 passes defensed, and a fumble recovery. To put that in perspective, in the 2011-12 season Chris Gamble played in 15 games those being starts and he was only able to finish with a total of 45 tackles with 8 assist, and only 3 picks.

Anyway if Josh Thomas is able to recreate his play throughout the course of the whole season he's destined to probably be our best secondary player, and more picks will come his way.

It is actually a pretty good dark horse pick. For the panthers to be a playoff team we are going to need a few surprises in the secondary. Norman or Thomas have to live up to our expectations and exceed the critics expectations.
