All I know is if we don't extend Hardy this year we're going to regret it next year when we'll probably have to pay at least 25% more to do it.

Lost in all this sign Hardy now debate is the fact that maybe Hardy may not sign this year. He should know that if he balls out this year his salary is going to rise significantly.

Offer him the extension this year and hope he signs it.

This would be the best case scenario. Hardy initiating contract talks would be a good sign. Maybe he believes he knows his worth. If we can come to terms that he is happy with. Why Not?
