so would you describe Cam as a lazy, wannabe gangster?  Because thug was most definitely applied to him during the draft process (and has since been used to describe him by some) by various fans etc.

LOL no it didn't

People can change man.

But a person who steals a laptop and gets kicked out a university that had football players arrested on a weekly basis certainly classifies as a thug in my book. IMHO, that thug culture and criminal activity seemed to be apart of Urban Meyer and his time at Florida. But hey, he won two National Championships there and hitched his wagon to Mr. Morality The Golden Calf of Bristol.

Is he a thug now? No. At least he appears to have lost his criminal tendencies.

No doubt. Aside from Cam's painful post game press conferences, his image NOW is almost as clean as it can get. He's got the right people in his circle PR wise.

It most certainly was applied to him by fans, Kurb, at least back then.  Just see above for one example of why it was, despite the fact Cam never stole a laptop (though he did try to get rid of one that was stolen by someone else it seems).  People who use it now are being... well, who knows why they are using it now.  Falcons fans? ;)

How am I responsible for what some dumbass I've never met says about him?

Should every Kentucky fan be responsible for the vulgar, asinine comments directed towards Andrew Wiggins when he decided to head to Kansas for his one year of basketball?

I don't think you're responsible for other people calling him a thug; I was giving an example of someone who apparently agreed with that assertion at the time.

I do remember some discussion about the laptop thing and then later about the "pay for play" thing with his dad, but I don't recall anyone using that word in regards to Cam. I'm not saying no one ever did, but I would like to see a link/quote showing it...

FWIW I did some googling after this thread started and found that "This thread is now about Vampires" thread in the smack forum that Salty locked from late 2010... interesting/hilarious reading if you so desire btw... if you can't find it I will link it.

I was one who wanted Luck before he decided not to come out... then I knew the pick was Cam and I was (and have been ever since) very happy with it... even though KT swore we would never draft a black QB and never support a black QB as fans or as a team.

FYI I have a Cam jersey, his rookie card and a banner with his rookie records on display in my office and his image all over my twitter and fb pages. :)

If anyone is calling Cam a thug now, they're just a troll or a dumbass.

I know there were threads where it was used to describe Cam, because I looked them up recently since I recalled in one particular thread Big Ben did get called a thug by some of the same people referencing Cam in the same way.

This has been the only pro football fan base I have followed closely, and I remember the vitriol here against Jake and Jimmy, but I do have to say Cam has had a way of polarizing the fan base unlike anyone else... and some of that is undoubtedly racism, but a lot of it seems to stem from something else.  It may be stereotypes of what they think a quarterback should act like, or whatever, I don't know.

The beat writers, journalists, media members, AP, etc are ALL OVER Auburn right now. The word is that there's evidence of "pay for play" i.e. paying current players a lump sum of a couple grand to stick around for another year when they were leaning towards transferring. They'd never admit this, but they want Cam. No one cares that a now fired coach gave the go ahead on giving some no name kid $2,000 to not transfer. Cam is who they want. If they ever catch him with blood on his hands it's going to validate and vindicate all of his haters.

It's going to take a lot for the NCAA to come down on the cash cow known as the SEC. Money/significant paper trail would be too hard for the NCAA to sweep under the rug.

I've never once said that there aren't racist Panthers fans. I know that there are... but they are not the majority by FAR.

IMO Cam has more than proven that he is worthy of the franchise QB label. However, there were some legit questions about him prior to the draft that didn't have anything to do with racism. He has proven all of those things to be non-issues and I'm glad for it.

You bring up a good point about Clausen... that pick was kind of a head scratcher in some ways at the time... then he played... and we all hated him because he sucked. Had nothing to do with him being white, black or otherwise... now he's pretty much a joke.

There were some questions about Cam... he came in a played and lit it up... sure there have been some detractors (there always are) but idgaf about them and they are few and far between and generally shouted down on here when they pop up.

I know several Panther fans that have a hard time pulling for Cam just based on what he did to their Gamecocks/Crimson tide in college.

Just like there would be more than plenty of Hornets fans here that would find it it extremely difficult to pull for Tyler Hansborough if he ever came to Charlotte to play for us.

I know you want to increase your pie/rep here by piling on MrTD with everyone else, but if you're going to criticize me, it would be nice if what you said were true.

I've never said the word you mentioned on here. Don't say it in real life, either. NO ONE should say that word. People like Chris Brown and Kanye West say it 100X on an album and society gives them a Grammy.

I've also never been banned. I've been sent to timeout once or twice, but that was only because these trolls caught me slipping and I was dumb enough to take the bait.

I criticized a moron who used God to justify her cheapness, and frankly speaking, was insulting to me as a Christian and former hospitality to worker. She happened to be AA. If she was white, no big deal right?

If you are going to be a bad tipper, please leave your Panther colors at home when you do so. We don't need people like that representing us!

Sorry, you took a "time-out" for saying the n-word. My mistake.

TH is one of the most decorated college basketball players in NCAA history.

His number is retired at one of the most prolific basketball programs in the country, that in case you haven't noticed, has plenty of haters in this area.

Not to mention the monster games he had against Duke including a 4-0 record in Cameron.

So yeah, I'd be willing to bet there are some ABCers who cringe at the thought of TH suiting up for the Charlotte Hornets. There's probably some UNC fans who don't want Gerald Henderson on the team.

Regarding the topic on hand:
"He's not an NBA player"
"He's going to suck in the NBA"
"He has a high motor"

Why TH was knocked before entering the NBA?
