Any WR that had Arron Smith throwing to him for most his career gets a second chance with me. Smith had one good season in his career and it was bc they made him capt.checkdown and hid him.

I hope he does have a breakout season bc it is not like Rivera said this about Murphy last season...who just never made plays.

Ginn, Hixon, Gettis, Pilares, Adams, Edwards and a number of others.

I truly hope one of the first three steps up.  However, to be honest with you.  If we keep 5 plus Smitty as long as we get 2500 yds out of our receiving corps I could careless about how it is distributed.

As we all know: Panthers desperately need a big, tall receiver to step up.

It's either that, or to properly utilize the two tight end sets, as they did during Cam's rookie season.

Obviously, One of the things that killed the offense last year, was no red zone threat, or trusty tall receiver (besides Lafell), to throw TD's intermediate and deep passes to. Smitty's just too small most times.

Panthers receivers, had no break away speed as well, and rarely turned deep passes into TD's.

Hopefully, Lamont Bryant, Gettis, or someone else can contribute, or help solve this

Ginn is a return man, any other production is just "batter on the cake"

I believe the term is "icing on the cake".

I look forward to seeing how this offense shapes up.. There are some new pieces to help Cam after he's put up 8k+ yards in 2 seasons. I think balance will be more valuable than any 4th or 5th receiver that would have been added in the draft.

That is to say I'm just not going to freak at this stage as if a receiver in the draft somehow deserves endless threads that go 40+ pages to see who can be heard the loudest.

MVP 2011, you would be correct if I wasn't quoting Cam.

If by some small miracle Ginn blossoms into a reliable threat, then we lose him as a returner. Teams don't want their starters to be exposed to ST injury. So the more important he becomes as a WR, the less he will contribute to ST.

That may be the case for a #1-2 WR, but I doubt we'd stop using him in that capacity as a #3-4 WR. In fact many returners are 3rd/4th string guys.

I could see Ginn doing just KR, with Barner at PR.

Ted Ginn's only concern is learning to catch and to take a hit. smitty and ricky proehl will make sure that both of those are solved. smitty hittin, proehl with the catching.

That was probably a pun based off Cam's last presser. Lol
