Are they only overrated cause they're overpaid? Is Cam only underrated cause he's still on his rookie contract? If both 34 & 28 restructure again next season, will they still be overrated? If we don't make the playoffs & Cam still gets a huge deal, is he automatically overrated? Who's Prisco & why the hate if he doesn't make any sense? Too many questions??

As pure runners....neither Stewart or Williams looked good overall in 2012 when used.

Yeah, we all watched the last game of the season against the Saints and the game against them earlier in the year. Neither RB looked good last year. Blame for that doesn't fall all on the RB.....but part of it does

If they have a good year everyone will credit the o-line. If they have a bad year its all on them! & cams been treated like a ginger step-child by the media since miss st claimed he tried to extort them for money. But then again the medias never been panther friendly. If cam was at any other team you'd be sick of hearing about him by now.

The sad part is: Mississippi St (or one of their officials), never said Cam's father made a $$ claim [off or on the record] from them. It was actually, an alleged Booster, who up until now cannot be corroborated.

However, as you're alluding to; the media doesn't always deal in facts, to formulate certain conclusions.

Double Trouble are overated. They haven't done anything significant since 2009. In Running Back years, that's nearly a career. Hopefully they can turn it around this year, but they'd have to have basically another 2009 to even somewhat justify what they are getting paid.

True.

I think they can both be productive if used correctly (though I would Prefer a D'Angelo, Tolbert backfield, Salary Cap be damned, than featuring all three).

The way this offense is set up, all three of them will be utilized (behind the line of scrimmage and in the flats), unless one rides the bench as a highly paid utility player.

Stewart doesn't help the situation with his recent injuries. And with D'Angelo there, I think Tolbert's power and versatility (along with his reasonable salary) would actually make the better complement/twosome. But we all know the salary Cap situation and what it means (restructuring or not)  who stays on the team next season.

You sir are correct, and, well, not so much. Our future empire conjures up images of our next empire, not this one. So, of course Dwill and Stewy are not going to be there. jk

As for this one. IMO, post restructures, they are making together what a good back could make. They also take up a lot less of the cap than last year. If they are used as expected, they could actually earn their money this year.

Man, if we can run the ball effectively, and Cam continues to incorporate the check down. Our RBs could have a great year as a unit.

So I say, right now it may appear we are overpaying for Double Trouble. Shouldn't we let the year play out before we end the thread?

I have no problem with Pete Priscoe.

Yeah, he didn't expect much from the Panthers last year, infuriating many a Panther fan.

However, he had his reasons ('Panthers would take a step back in 2012, before they take a step forward in 2013'), and seems to follow/be aware of the team way more than many national writers and broadcasters.

Double trouble, may very well be overrated in certain respects. However, that doesn't mean that they can't be effective or a valuable tool in the Panthers offense of 2013.

Considering what they both get paid, and what's expected of them (along with who the team/offensive leader is), they are/would be overrated by most standards!!

Overrated doesn't mean 'no talent' in this case. Its more about how much they're paid vs how much they're used/production.

But to me that's more "overpayed" than "overrated"

Panther fan frustrations with Prisco's coverage of the team date back to way before 2012.

A QB that throws into the ground when he has an open receiver, and can not win in the 4th quarter is not " under rated "  ..Doubletrouble is in serious decline ...Not looking real good for the Pantys in 2013 ...

Our RB's are underused not overrated. Stewart is a top 10 back on any other team. They are still by far the most talented back field in the game. The struggle is balancing their carries with the passing game and Cam's running threat as well.

This is 100% accurate.

They are a nasty RB duo. They are just overpaid and under used for the scheme that we are likely to run. This is not their fault, but is Hurney's fault.

I believe we will run much more this season and they will prove to be very valuable. You could justify one if them at their cap hit...just not both.
