I see T. Ginn being utilized the way the Ravens used Torrey Smith in the Playoffs. Hope such is the case!

Him taking the top off a defense will allow Steve to work out of the slot, and Lafell to find gaps were the coverage has broken. Even if he isn't catching 70 yard bombs, his speed is contributing.

I would be happy if Ginn is utilized similar to Chris Givens of the Rams, throw him outside as a deep threat. Givens caught 5 or 6 balls of 50+ yards, if we can stretch the field with his speed, I would love to have Smitty in the slot and Lafell coming across the middle.

Literally took the words out of my mouth - I was typing the same thing and posted just after you.

Uh...so we don't use Ginn over the middle....

We use him to stretch the field, we already have guys who can catch the ball over the middle: Olsen, Smith, Lafell.

Why would you take a guy like that and tell him to streak across the middle, he's not made for it.

He's going to be used sparringly. He's 3rd WR at best, maybe even 4th or 5th choice behind Olsen and Hixon. But when he gets used it's most likely going to be stretching the field in which case his chances of getting smashed will be marginalised.

my 2 pence.

I don't think Ginn will be used as an across the middle guy.  That is smitty's job.  Let Ginn do what 89 used to do, keep those safeties out of the box.  I'm liking what i see here.

I agree if he can keep the safeties out of the box and beat them deep on occasion I will be happy.

I can't get all that excited that a receiver who's biggest problem is that he hates contact doing well in practices without contact.

That is an absolutely fair assessment.  I wouldn't say that I'm on pins and needles that this is the next Randy Moss, but what we have all been clamoring for is a true deep threat that has to keep the safeties honest.  If he can just show that he can beat press coverage and get open behind his man then defenses will have no choice but to compensate for that creating a whole new dynamic for this offense.  This run game vs a 7 man front?  Smitty vs underneath coverage with no safety help?  That's exciting no matter what time of year it is.

Only thing I question in Ginn Jr. is why didn't he do this last year with SF?

Maybe Cam and the change of scenery yet again will finally break his potential
