Mash tatters by a long shot. They take up space and if not done right can hold there on in a bowl movement. Fua on the other hand might out slide butter.

Fua won't burn the hell out of my mouth when I reheat him in the microwave so I side with him.

A better comparison would be to Poi (the hawaiian delicacy).

 

Same consistency as the mashed taters, just no flavor and of island descent.
