Ravenscroft School's Avery Edwards made a verbal commitment over the weekend.

The 6-foot-5, 230-pound tight end committed to the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, according to Ravenscroft football coach Ned Gonet.

"I think the attraction to him is his versatility and his ability to play multiple sets in a college offense," Gonet said on Tuesday. "I think Avery has good athleticism, he has good, solid speed, and he knows the game well."

"Many schools were interested in him because he could fit into their mold on offense," said Gonet. "He has a great work ethic and has great ball skills."

Edwards had offers from Arkansas, Duke, Florida State, Louisville, North Carolina State, Pittsburgh, Virginia, Virginia Tech, and Wake Forest.

I also didn't want to make another thread, but here is a good fluff article on Fedora and the Tar Heels taking the next step.

It's early in the game right now for 2014, but every indication points to them having a great class. Lot of talent all over the field right now and it's becoming a program that players want to go to for things other than receiving a degree there, which couldn't necessarily be said 10 years ago.
