The Gettlemen Plan: (Bored and it is raining)--an analysis

I feel that we've finally got the right person to turn things around and I've been completely impressed to this point.

We'll need a new LT whether Gross retires or not I think. As far as the spelling, it wouldn't matter if it was just normal words misspelled, but when it comes to Panthers commentary why would I read something by somebody who doesn't know our own players' names.
It's just the timing of when we need the LT. We obviously are going to need one soon. And if you knew the OP you would know he knows his panthers football from his posts.
Special teams has had a huge makeover, with Ginn, Barner, Blackburn, Klein, amongst several others.
Finishing pieces on D with CB and safety if these guys don't step up this year. I have a feeling one or two will.
Offense we need more weapons, a stud WR, cutting loose of big RB contracts will help ease this transition. I like the direction we are going though.

The biggest question marks for me are Shula and Rivera's decision making skills. I would like to think we're going to be fine, but everything else going according to the Gettle's plan it would seem.
Just need to stay healthy for once and hope our coaches are going to get it done. No excuses this year.

I missed 2 names--meant to look them up becuase I went brain-dead but forgot before I shared. Apologies to all.
No worries, figured you just typed it up fast. I just threw that out for reference in case anyone was confused.
As Razeyfingers stated, I think coaching will ultimately be the key factor if we are to make the playoffs. Too much talent here. Thanks for the read. Any sort of intelligent football discussion is more than welcome at this point.

I did not look them up and meant to. While I do not really care, your inability to see the big picture and make a comment about an insignificant error tells me a lot about you.
I also think the fact that you felt the need to post your comment is telling. But never stop reading. Literacy is very um....very....imp....good.
That was a good read, thanks for taking the time to write it. I agree with 90% of your points and the rest are at least logically explained. I really want to see the guy nit picking a couple spelling errors that have nothing to do with understanding your article write something that thought out.

Agree with you and RF. People like to talk about our holes, but every team in the salary cap era has holes. We have plenty of talent. It's up to the coaches to get the most out of them. I'm going to take a wait and see attitude, but must admit to some skepticism when it comes to the staff.
And yes, good post by the OP.

I thought you said key additions, not all additions. a 4th round depth guard isn't a key addition. Anyways, inb4 bestteamofalltime

Moving forward, WR and LT will be Gettleman's new priorities as 2013 turns into 2014. If he produces quality depth at those positions as he has at shoring up the middle of the defensive line, he may be better than advertised.
Great post OP.

(as opposed to how things have been done in Carolina up to now)

why are guys we re-signed being considered "key" additions? are they defined as additions simply because they hit the free agent market for 2 minutes before coming back because nobody gave them an offer or have we been that silent in free agency that our fans would consider signing a cart collector from home depot a blockbuster free agent signing?

First of all Great Post
I don't want to sound criticizing at all but, you listed Blackburn for defense and special teams but Ginn only for Special teams. Do you not feel that he is going to be an asset offensively? He had a good OTA and Mini-camp.
Also Gettleman has done an incredible job addressing as many areas as he can. You don't list White, Lester or Gaydosh as key addtions. None of them may make the roster or all three could. This is depending how many CBs. Safeties, and DTs we keep.
I think they are key additions as well. A good GM does well in the draft a great GM finds those gems that everyone passed on.
I hope the Gross hangs on through 2014, Gives Gettleman time to weed out all the Hurney mess. We'll see.
I think you did a great job and concur with your assessment just wanted to add a little to the discussion.
