800k is only his salary if he is called up to the NHL. So yes, calling up an AHL starting goalie and paying him 800k to play at the NHL level is on par.

Btw, I'm not sure where 800k is coming from. According to the following link he is making only 550k next season at both the AHL and NHL  level. http://www.capgeek.com/player/651

The backup goalie we just signed is 800k. http://www.capgeek.com/player/956

$800k at the NHL level is perfectly fine.....at the AHL level is absurd.

Can't unload Pitkanen, he is easily the best defenseman on the team when healthy.

We could argue this to no end, but the only person who infuriated me more with his play was McBain.

There's no arguing it at all...

If you let Pitkanen go, you open up another top four gap... (Pitkanen had the highes +/- for defenseman on the team last year).

Ryan Murphy will never be a top four player, he just doesn't have the size. So unless you think Bellemore is a top four defenseman, there really is no argument for it.

There's already a gap when he plays.  He's lazy, injury prone and his cap hit is 4.5.  You could get some kind of return to fill his spot and the cap room to sign big name and a Chad LaRose for 3rd/4th line.

If they are going to do it they need to do it now.

Any news on the Alex Pietrangelo front.  Isn't StL supposed to be dealing people because they can't afford them?
