Is this where we all get mad about Cam's spot on an arbitrary list again?

First of all, Cam did not play that well in the first half of the season due to reasons including but not limited Chud's heavy use of the read option instead the traditional run game. But also, Cam was indecisive on most of those reads to be honest and held on to the ball for too long. He played lights out in the second half tho.

I wonder what the ranking is based on. It'll most likely be wins which to me is not entirely rational. Lets take an example of RG3. He threw for 3200yds and a total of 27 TD. Cam threw for 3869yd (on more attempts though) with 27 total TD. Both QBs have similar production (and we even beat the Redskins when we met) but somehow our TEAM could not make the playoffs. That should tell you wins are not necessarily a good metric to use to compare QBs because it is a TEAM effort.

Cam will only get the respect he deserves when the team wins 10 games and are NFC South Champions. Or at least get to the playoffs

No he won't. He'll still be Sir Cameron Newton: Leader of Men, Lover of Puppies...Esquire and Vince Young 2.0/JaMarcus Russell 2.0 to those outside the Carolina fanbase.

I think 14-18 range is about right, I would like to see the whole list.  But I dont think Cam is a top 10 QB, he is in the middle of the pack.

IMO, a lot of it has to do with what we have on offense and who we had as an OC.... I believe a lot of Cam's woes are growing pains, weak OL and no real #2 WR.....

Jaws is a genius, we are posting about him on a message board because of the way he rated the players and a lot of people here are going to watch it because of reading this thread.  Everyone except whoever's QB finishes number one will be butt hurt and talk about him even more.

I don't think so.

But it certainly is where those who make their hay whining about what others may post come in.

As a pure passer somewhere between 15-20 is reasonable based on last year. As a total quarterback he is higher. What I like is that he wont be complacent amd if he cares about lists it will fire him up. That is a good thing. If he doesnt then who cares.

Cam is the only QB ever that had to come in and win a superbowl in his first 2 years to get any credibility. This was already understood.

LOL. Nothing new here. Most team fans claim their QB don't get enough love, from falcons to seachickens.

Anyone catch who came in at #19?

Here's the list to date:

18. Cam Newton, Panthers
20. Alex Smith, Chiefs
21. Josh Freeman, Buccaneers
22. Sam Bradford, Rams
23. Carson Palmer, Cardinals
24. Ryan Tannehill, Dolphins
25. Michael Vick, Eagles
26. Brandon Weeden, Browns
27. Christian Ponder, Vikings
28. Mark Sanchez, Jets
29. Chad Henne, Jaguars
30. Kevin Kolb, Bills
31. Jake Locker, Titans
32. Matt Flynn, Raiders

Aaron Rodgers, Packers
Andrew Luck, Colts
Andy Dalton, Bengals
Ben Roethlisberger, Steelers
Colin Kaepernick, 49ers
Drew Brees, Saints
Eli Manning, Giants
Jay Cutler, Bears
Joe Flacco, Ravens
Matt Ryan, Falcons
Matt Schaub, Texans
Matt Stafford, Lions
Peyton Manning, Broncos
Philip Rivers, Chargers
Robert Griffin III, Redskins
Russell Wilson, Seahawks
Tom Brady, Patriots
Tony Romo, Cowboys

How many of those guys who are remaining can you really put Newton ahead of, unless you're going on potential?  All of them have been to the playoffs, and most of them have built up an impressive body of work.

I think Newton will eventually be one of the game's greats, but if you were making the list, where would you honestly put him right now?

I'll put him above Dalton, RG0.3, Wilson, Luck and Kaepernick.

Come on guys, get some perspective. You can't rank a QB very high that has not gotten to .500 yet.

Alex Smith who had the highest QB ranking at 132 was at 20.

You have no beef since all you are squaking about is potential. Get the wins, get the rankings. This is a critical season for Cam and I hope he gets off to a good start.
