He needs to be held to a standard, your supposed to come into the off-season program at a certain conditioned level. The point of OTAs and Camp is to improve your techniques & expand your skill set not wasting it on the basic thigs like general conditioning.
I know he will be ready for football but he will lose valuable time that could have been spent on other things like route running.
Regarding pep being a leader. i think when JR threw the gauntlet down trying to get him to pick up where mike minter left off was a bit intimidating probably because he felt that maybe he needed to be the same type of leader. Peppers found an understated way to lead that uses setting an example and the tone for what a professional athlete does to prepare for the season. you are never good enough or experienced enough to not take an effort to learn and put in the work both in the classroom and on the field.
