Yes. I'm actually amazed that they've gotten away with it for this long.
Imagine if there was a team called the Blackskins. The only difference is that the native americans are nearly wiped out.
Since they're not my team, I don't really care if they change the name, but I can understand why fans would be very upset.

I also don't see a problem with Chiefs or Braves.
Nor do I. At least not from a racism perspective. I can understand a group that was wiped out by whites to feel that it is insensitive to use those names, but they're not racist. Redskins is blatantly racist.

Braves and chiefs are not derogatory.
one is a name based on the social ranking of a warrior class
the other is based on columbian-era racial indexing

I imagine a team named the "Yellowskins" would go over great in Cali

A "name the team" contest was held by the Oakland Tribune, and the winner was the Oakland Señors. After a few weeks of being the butt of local jokes (and accusations that the contest was fixed, as Soda was fairly well known within the Oakland business community for calling his acquaintances "señor"), the fledgling team (and its owners) changed the team's name nine days later to the Oakland Raiders, which had finished third in the naming contest. The original team colors were black, gold and white. The now-familiar team emblem of a pirate (or "raider") wearing a football helmet was created, reportedly a rendition of actor Randolph Scott.
