North Carolina basketball coach Roy Williams issued the following statement Monday:

'I initially decided not to make a statement about P.J. (Hairston) until the legal process had been finalized. I believe that is the fair way that everyone should be treated and is the way of our country.

P.J. and I have had several discussions already and he knows he has made serious mistakes and there will be serious consequences as a result. Certainly the idea of suspending P.J. has been discussed. However, he is not currently enrolled in summer school, is not practicing with the team and we have no games until November. There are several options available in terms of discipline but we are going to wait until the process is complete to decide on those options.

Other issues have been written about recently that are disturbing and bother me deeply. Our basketball program is based on great ideals and these issues are embarrassing. These are not common in my 10 years as head coach at UNC and they will all be dealt with harshly and appropriately at the correct time to ensure that our program will not be compromised.

We will care about each individual but there will be serious actions taken that will fix these issues. I take pride in our values and how we have conducted ourselves for a long time here at Carolina and this time will pass but it will be dealt with strongly.

We are talking about a program that has been a model of success on and off the court and it will be again. I want to thank our fans for their patience, understanding and support.'

I am very curious on why roy hasn't suspended/kicked PJ off the team.  From my understanding if he wasn't on the team he wouldn't have to talk to the NCAA and tell them about the multiple car rentals for himself and possibly other players.  I am also curious if roy and the school knew about PJ's speeding ticket in the rental and if they did why did they not self report it?  Him driving a rental is a clear violation and should have been self reported just like NC State self reported when CJ borrowed a car.  We also can't forget that LM got a speeding ticket on July 4th driving a car that wasn't his either.  Who was running this "wheels for heels" program?  I don't think Fats is the top dog in this whole mess so we will just have to see how it plays out.

I did, did you read my whole post?  I made my case for why I would have kicked him off, the unc brand should be bigger than one player.  Plus who cares if he isn't in summer school, he is still part of the basketball team and on scholarship.  Ole Miss didn't wait for school to start back or practice to begin before they got rid of Henderson.

I did read your whole post....and Roy answered your question.  You may not agree with his answer, but it's right in front of you.

I don't care to bet on a rival team kicking a player off or not

I just don't see it happening

Like I said it's a cop out, just because he isn't in summer school doesn't mean you can't do anything to him.  Look at Henderson, he was suspended for failing a drug test.  PJ has put your whole program at risk with the NCAA.  He was caught with weed in a rental car he didn't rent, a gun was found outside the car, he has driven multiple rental cars rented by a felon and this same felon has rented at least 4 other cars that received 9 parking tickets on unc's campus and you don't have enough info to suspend him?  Come on how many broken laws plus NCAA violations does it take?

If it were left up to just roy I don't think so either but from what I've heard I don't think they are going to have a choice.  Everybody's forgetting about the Rodney Blackstock issue that the NCAA is also investigating on top of all the other impermissible benefits PJ received from Thomas.

Roy says there are going to be serious consequences and that they have discussed suspending him.  He goes further to say, and I'm paraphrasing, that no one player is bigger than the program.  The poop is going to hit the fan for PJ and he's more than likely going to be suspended for quite a bit of time if not for the season.  You initial statement was that you were curious why he hasn't done it already - and he clearly tells you why.  No one gives a poo whether or not you agree with the timeline of how it's all going to go down or if you think it should have already happened.  Roy's point is that they're not in school, not practicing, and don't play for months...TRANSLATION....it doesn't make a difference (other than to you haters) whether it's done now or before they get the team back together, but something is going to happen.

Jesus....this is the crap that I can't stand about you haters.  You hate UNC so much that you really believe that if Roy had his choice he would let this slide?  Do you really, and I mean REALLY believe that?  You think Roy is such an idiot he would just sweep this under the rug?  C'mon man......use your head and common sense rather than your hate.

Most schools go ahead and suspend the player or players to show the NCAA that they are serious and in hopes the NCAA will feel that the self imposed punishment is enough.  Remember when YOUR school self imposed penalties on the football team?  It wasn't that long ago or do you not really care about their football program?

Right....and when the legal process is finalized he will deal with ALL OF IT.

And the line about not caring about their football team.....get some new material and an original thought.

Not a hater at all just seems strange to me that his answer was "well he is not in school and we don't have games until November".  All the Blue Devils are in Durham and practice and workout every day so unc doesn't do this?  PJ is not in Chapel Hill using their facilities to workout in and be around his teammates?  I find that hard to believe but if he's not what does that say about his work ethic?

Do I really believe roy would let something slide?  Well lets see, your athletics is on probabtion and compliance department is supposed to be monitoring social media but many unc basketball players took pictures with expensive cars, talked about driving expensive cars, put videos up of themselves driving expensive cars so that seemed to be an epic fail.  Plus are you telling me roy didn't know about PJ getting a ticket in a rental car?  If he didn't know he needs to monitor his players better, if he did know why didn't he self report it to the NCAA?
