Wharton Meeting With Panthers

Wharton is counting $1.86 million against the cap in dead cap, how exactly would that be affected if we signed him?

I'm not a cap expert but that was a totally different contract and a new contract shouldn't affect his dead cap In any way.

He should be quite cheap as I would bet he has a house and possibly a family that stayed in town. That alone is worth a lot in the decision making.

He has a home here. Reportedly in the same neighborhood as gross.

Would be cool to have Travellvis back in the fold if he's healthy, even if it is just depth.

Wharton would be an instant upgrade at RG IF HEALTHY. I don't want to move Amini and I would far perfer Wharton to Piggy.

My friend who's a Bengals fans (and is also coming to training camp with me on Friday) said that their beat writer said that Wharton was going to be ready for training camp but they chose to cut him to because they couldn't afford him. He said the move saved them around two million dollars.

    • If Charlotte didn't have an NBA team I would not watch pro basketball. The NBA is the only major sports league that has no parity. Who would have thought the Panthers would have made the Super Bowl a couple years ago, who had the Predators in the Stanley Cup Finals this year, did anyone project an Indians vs. Cubs matchup in the World Series last year? Probably not!  But at the beginning of the NBA season everyone predicted a Warriors/Cavs final. There is absolutely no parity. Since 2010 (2009 for MLB) NFL: 12 different teams have made the Super Bowl NHL: 11 different teams have made the Stanley Cup Finals MLB: 11 different teams have made the World Seeie NBA: 8 different teams have made the NBA Finals The NBA is the only major sports league where there is a greater than 50% chance that you will see at least one team in the finals that you've seen there in the last 7 years. I particularly pull for the Hornets because of the pride I have for Charlotte and because I like the game of basketball. But it does suck knowing before the season even starts that we don't have a shot a championship.

    • We will never be calling Greg that

      And OBJ is still garbage

    • So as of right now the roster looks like... PG: Kemb, ???, Weber SG: Batum, Monk, Graham SF: MKG, Lamb, Bacon PF: Marv, Tank, O'Bryant C: Howard, Zeller, ??? The MLE is projected to be around 8 million and the bi annual exception is projected to be around 3. The point guard market is pretty horrible but I am a big fan of Patty Mills and as bad as the point guard market is, the center market is much, much worse. I wouldn't be surprised if the Hornets added Mathiang are Karnowski as depth for the center position.
