Umm no. It's because a Jumpshot does not make a game. They just aren't comparable as players. Barnes isn't as good of a ball handler or at driving the basket. It's not as good close to the basket or in the post. MKG is better then Barnes at everything but jumpshots. This whole argument is stupid, MKG is already better and he has a higher ceiling. No Bias involved.

http://espn.go.com/nba/player/_/id/6601/michael-kidd-gilchrist  14 PER

http://espn.go.com/nba/player/_/id/6578/harrison-barnes  11 PER

As you see they had similar minutes and points, but rebounds, blocks and FG% aren't close. MKG has a higher PER as well. Better Steal numbers and assist numbers. Plus they have completely different roles on their teams. Barnes will be lucky to see 20 minutes a game this upcoming season because of IGGY.

At some point we have to check the water at some peoples houses.

It like numbers are a foreign language to some people.

I'm going to post this again so some people can take the time to read it and rethink their dumbass opinions.

http://espn.go.com/nba/player/stats/_/id/6578/harrison-barnes

And Game logs

http://espn.go.com/nba/player/gamelog/_/id/6601/michael-kidd-gilchrist

After reading these 4 pages you can't keep saying the dumbest poo over and over again.

A few things that were brought up in this thread that should be answered.

1. They played the same amount of time and took the same amount of shots a game.

So there should not be anybody saying MKG had more time and took more shots because it just isn't true.

2. Barnes loses in every category but scoring (By .2) and 3pt %. There is more to the game then 2 categories if you actually know basketball. MKG is suppose to be the raw offensive player but he even shot a higher % from the field.

3. The Notion MKG can't be a Point-Forward. Have you never seen him play???

True people with B-ball Knowledge can see a player able to get a rebound bring the ball up the court with his head up and find open teammates or run a play. That is being a point-forward.

4. If you play with Curry and Klay and Lee and even Bogut you get a lot of open shots. MKG didn't have that Luxury. With Jefferson and Zeller we will have a better look at MKG  offensive game.

5. We say Barnes is a better Scorer but the game logs "clearly show" MKG had more double digit game and 20 point games. So Barnes is the better jump shooter but MKG was the better scorer this season.

Honestly it should be clear to most basketball fans that MKG had the better regular season. MKG was easily the better overall player and that isn't debatable. MKG was a better rebounder, got more steals, blocks, played damn near lockdown defense (at 19 years old) (according to Synergy), and the scoring was nearly equal. MKG is also the better playmaker at this point and has more potential as a playmaker. Now with that said, Barnes probably does have more scoring potential. I see MKG as a 15-18 ppg, 7-8 rpg, 3-4 apg, 1 bpg, 1.5 spg player who plays lockdown defense on 2's, 3's, and 4's, while also being able to guard 1's occasionally. That is MKG at his best imo. Barnes at his best will be a 20+ ppg scorer, 5-6 rpg, 2-3 apg with solid defense. Barnes is also much more flashy and will be more appealing to the casual fan with his athleticism, 3's, and nasty dunks.

Bottom line is that I would be thrilled to have either one as a young corner piece on my team. Both will be very good players imo. Being a UNC fan, I am a big fan of Barnes, and I really hate Kentucky, but I honestly believe that MKG will be the better player and overall will impact the game on a level that Barnes just isn't capable of.

Barnes had 18pts in the US scrimmage, just sayin. He was the 2nd best player in that game behind Kyrie Irving.

Flame on...
