Hornets Salary Cap Update - Post-Hendo Signing

I have updated our salary cap spreadsheet after finalizing Hendo's contract this weekend.  Appears we  will have roughly $16-17 million dollars next off-season to replace Ben Gordon, Ramon Sessions, & Jeff Adrien who I would assume we do not resign as free agents when their contract expires.

Leaving us with 1 PG (Kemba), 2 SG's (Taylor & Henderson), & 1 SF (MKG) in the backcourt going into a deep free agent off-season and a highly acclaimed rookie draft class.

A scoring SF should be at the top of our priority list either in a trade this season or in next year's off-season (via draft or free agency).  Cho has kept our salary cap flexible which will allow us to choose to get serviceable depth or go for another high priced free agent next off-season and add scraps around the core.  Cho should be commended for all he has done and I am excited to see the next big move we make.

I think there is enough potential on the team now to make Charlotte an appealing destination, we just need to prove it next season by fighting for a playoff spot & potentially stealing one.  I don't see tanking in this teams plans for next season.

Nice.  I think Hendo should be in green though I believe since it's a player option.

You are correct.  My mistake... make a mental note as I don't feel like updating and changing the picture.

Also Jeff Adrien does not have a player option.

He's simply on a non-guaranteed contract.

Edit: it looks like you beat me to it.

Quick question, is there a reason that Adriens and Taylor's numbers are gray or not.

I wasn't sure if that indicated something.

I think Adrien is on a team option contract this year (non-guaranteed) and JT is on a team option contract next year.

The gray $$$ indicate non-guaranteed contract values.  These are guys the teams basically hold an option for although in some cases a portion of the salary is guaranteed.

In Jeff Adrien's case, I believe he is playing for the minimum and it is completely non-guaranteed.

If we make the playoffs you all will regret it. The sucess will be short lived. We need that top 5 pick

There is no reason that Charlotte could not become a Pacers or Grizzlies type team with depth and young talent without getting one of the "blue chippers" slated in next year's draft.  When Zeller backed out of last year's draft to play his sophomore season, he was the consensus #1 pick for this draft.  Things change dramatically over the course of a season and there will be a new name in the draft in the top 10 next year that you have never even heard of.  The sky is not falling if we make the playoffs.

for once we have a promising young team that appears to be set.   A top five pick in next years draft should solidify us in the playoffs.    Id go far as to say if we get lucky and get wiggins, we would be a championship contender for years to come.

This. Its only one more year. Why fuck it up now to be a constant 4 or 5 seed for years to come. If we get a top 5 and the pistons pick would be great. Throw in the blazers and cho will have alot to work with. The hornets need to start out with a bang. Idc about the bobcats
