On paper I clearly see them needing help. I've felt that way the whole time. In reality offensive lines as a rule lag behind the defense in camp. It's been what? 3 days? I don't see any help coming for the next few weeks until the cut down dates.

Having played offensive line on a college level i understand the that the D-Line most always has the advantage early! Ive been a part of some dominant olines in college that were made to look silly by the d in the first couple practices on every level! Having said that im simply not happy with our right side at all! Going back watching film from last year i saw Bell get not only abused by speed but also dominated in the bull rush, which simply cant happen this year with some of the D-Lines on our schedule.....i love Gettleman but i dont understand why we arent going after someone now at the RG spot NOW, ecspecially with the recent cap space we've cleared up! Playing Oline is about being a unit and meshing together and creating chemistry! you have to know the man next to you's tendencies, where he needs help and where he can hold his own! The earlier they bring in someone the better! As stated before as the OLine goes so does the Team and if we want to make a deep run this year its on the big boys upfront

The player's we'd want to sign, don't want to sign yet. They're waiting to see what happening in camp in case it drives up the price.

Gettleman has shown he doesn't want to overpay players especially players at a relatively easy to fill position (RG). I have faith in Gettleman's ability to evaluate talent and to bring someone in once the RG pool is more understood (based upon who gets cut during camp) and not overpay.

So, to sum it up. Panic, but don't panic.

Keep in mind at this point anyone we get will just be seviceable at best. So it comes down to the other side of the equation.

Scheme and coaching matter a lot in the NFL. Every team has personnel deficits they have to deal with. It's a question of whole the coaching staff maximizes the available talent.

This is something RR does really well on the defensive side. So it's a question as to whether Shula can.

I don't agree.

I think either Wharton or Moore would be a major upgrade and more than "servicable".

Not only that, but they're wanting to avoid as much of camp and preseason as possible. Vets hate this time of year.  Vets don't retire because of the regular season, they retire because they're sick of having to go through camp.  They get tired of having to deal with these young guys going 110% because they're trying to make a roster or earn playing time.

Tomorrow is the day off.

Gettlemen and Rivera and Shula and .... have had the opportunity to see a week of the OL getting mauled.  They have seen the numerous pressures and sacks (practice sacks) on their franchise qb.

Perhaps Gettlemen wanted to see what he had.  Now he knows.  However, Cam was hit over 10 times per game last year, most in the NFL by far, and no personnel has changed up front.

I think there will be some OL help brought in to interview tomorrow.

If they really are that good, I think another team will offer than more than we will be willing to offer. Wharton might give us a hometown discount, but Gettleman's plan for the RG position is Kugzilla, so any vet would be on a 1 year contract at best.

I think they'll do a cost-benefit analysis and see if the upgrade will be worth the price. We're still not out of cap hell for next year especially with the looming Cam and Kraken contracts.

Are there above average guards out there? Perhaps.

Are we going to sign them? I doubt it.

Our guards got pretty ate up.  Gaydosh sure didn't look very good either.

Hard to put a price on the risk of getting your franchise QB mangled because the right side of your OL is garbage.  I've said that my wish is for a RG.  IMO, it's easier to find an affordable, serviceable plug and play veteran OG than it is to find an affordable plug and play veteran OT.

I'm just fine with bringing in a serviceable vet on a one year deal with the hopes that Kugzilla develops.  IMO, that's exactly what we should do.

It's a pretty common fact that our two starters on the right side would be phenomenal backups to have but neither are true starter material.

Out of the two, Bell is more serviceable and might improve his game with a very good guard beside him.

Brandon Moore would be ideal... I just don't see Gettleman spending that type of money unless it's on a one year rental, and a player of Moore's caliber is probably looking for at least a two year deal.

I'd be fine with Wharton if he can pass a physical.

We freed up cap space for this year, why not spend it on a 1 year vet rental?

It was clear before training camp even started that we needed oline help.
