yeah this is a tough one. my 2 girls are 13 and 11 and even hurtful things at school or with each other pains me. they recently lost their grand dad(wifes dad) and while the older responded the way i thought i wasn't sure how my younger one would. she is a brilliant kid and is a few grade levels of where she is but i could tell it didn't register the way it did with her sister.

as a dad you want to protect and its hard to know there are times i have to flat out let them fall down to learn what they have to. that junk is not easy to do.

I pray that my daughter never has to experience the poverty that I grew up in. I am grateful that I am physically able to financially support her.

All the internet videos my roommates in college dared me to watch...

I hope they never watch those.

Captroop, it was your signature that brought this thought up, but..

...those crappy new Power Rangers.  Long live the original.

premature loss of a parent (and no not selfishly)

my wife lost her mom in her mid twenties and I hate to see how it pains her

My mom died when I was 14, I don't want my son to deal with that until he's old enough to really grasp it emotionally.

The regret of not taking full advantage of the opportunities their parents work so hard to provide. I didn't when I was a teenager and I regret it to this day.

Father passing at 19. Parents divorcing. Not being able to go to the college you got accepted to because of money.

I was in elementary school during Columbine and 9/11. The gravity of that poo doesn't really hit you until you're older.

I personally wouldn't want my kid to lose a parent at a young age. I did and it sucks.
