The Pro Football Hall of Fame

Best Answer Firefox, 04 August 2013 - 02:19 PM

I believe Peppers will get in even though he has no heart. But if he goes in as a Chicago Bear I will lose my fugin mind.

Is a New Hall of Fame Member Enshrined as a Member of a Team?

Obviously, teams take great pride in the accomplishments of individuals who have been a part of their organization. Often individual teams and even the Hall of Fame will list enshrinees according to the team or teams on which they spent a significant period of time. An enshrinee, however, is not asked to “declare,” nor does the Hall of Fame “choose” a team under which a new member is enshrined. When elected to the Pro Football Hall of Fame, an individual is recognized for his accomplishments as a player, coach, or contributor.

I honestly don't even care about the Hall of Fame. Sure it would be nice but some of our guys like Minter, Rucker, and Delhomme will never get in yet they're still legendary to me.

Peppers:
8 interceptions (2nd most by d lineman ever)
Most interception return yards by a defensive lineman ever.
Longest interception return by a d lineman
Most interception/fumble return yards in a single season by a d lineman
Those 37 forced fumbles - 10th most in history
13 blocked kicks (2nd most in history)
59 passes defensed (3rd most by a d lineman)

Freeney:
epic butthurt rant about officiating
0 interceptions

moral of the story, peppers will be in HOF. 1 trick pony Sweeney might.... possibly.... on a slow year

e: great autocorrect... don't even wanna change it

I believe Smith will get in eventually. If he plays another 2-3 years he's adding nearly another 3,000 yards to his totals and who knows how may TD's and what he'll have. If he gets a ring during that time that would make it even better. I think Smitty has one of the best YPC averages a WR has ever had.

I think if he doesn't get in anytime soon he will eventually. I could see him being a huge underdog story for the HOF. He is a memorable player and his highlight reel is more impressive than dudes already in the HOF. He is a triple crown winner and the best YAC WR in the history of the game.

Every Panther fan in the world WANTS Smitty in. But realistically he's not even close. He had the unfortunate luck of playing with a bad quarterback, on a run first team for 10 years, during the time of offensive explosion. Current players numbers are going to poo all over smitty's. Add that to the fact that WR is the hardest position to make it in since there has been a complete log jam in HOF Receivers over the past few years. He's my favorite player of all time and I would gladly make the trip to Canton if he ever got in, but you need to let the fantasy go.

Hes:

-27th all time in receptions (plus there are 5 players real close to him that will pass him in a few years, not even counting the Megatron's and AJ Green types)

-23rd in receiving yards (3 about to pass him)

-59th in receiving TDs

-0 Super Bowls

-0 MVPs

-only had over 8 TDs ONCE in his career

right now, Smitty and Chad Johnson have almost identical all time stats

Smitty: 772 catches. 11452 yards. 63 Rec TDs

Chad: 766 catches. 11059 yards. 67 RecTDs

Great player? Without question. Hall of Famer? Not a chance

dont hold your breath on either one. peppers makes it before smith, and he's a longshot. if peppers makes it, so does dwight freeney.

peppers- 2nd overall pick 2002 draft- 111.5 sacks- 37 forced fumbles

freeney- 11th overall pick 2002 draft- 107.5 sacks- 44 forced fumbles

peppers ranks 18th all time in sacks, freeney ranks 21st

freeney's 44 forced fumbles leads the nfl since 2002, and he also has a ring.

to my knowledge neither peppers or freeney ever ended the career of a teammate with an assault.

Hey Dildos, Smith is still playing, as is Peppers, at a high level. Also, Freeney fuging sucks and is nothing more than a pass rush specialist. I mean, dude had 10 total tackles last year, 5 of which were his 5 sacks.

if steve puts up 3100 more yards he'll move past marvin harrison on the all-time receiving yards list.  he'll be past largent, lofton, and carter too.  it's not outlandish to think he can do that, especially if he's working the slot and getting fed the ball.

freeney was never as good as peppers even in his prime.  there were always naysayers who'd point at freeney's sack numbers but those people usually just masturbated to stats instead of actually watching them play.

i'm no peppers fan and i can't stand the dipshits in this fanbase who still harp on "how bad we fuged up" because he didn't want to play here anymore but peppers is a complete defensive end who can and has done it all.  he'll probably be playing at a high level into his late 30s too.

You are kidding me right? He's not even a Panthers fan. He's a Colts fan, and a troll. Feel free to join him.

I'm sorry to break this to u. But just because he is your hero, that doesn't automatically make him the greatest of all time. If he played his entire career with the chiefs (same numbers) none of us would vote him in. Look man, tens of thousands of people have played this game professionally over the years. Don't get pissy just cuz hes not a clear cut top 5 guy of all time. Its going to be ok. He had an amazing career and is no doubt going into the panthers ring of honor and the number 89 should be retired. Again, u can thank Jake for 75% of the reason why, but hes not making the cut. Sorry.

There's a compleye log-jam at reciever going into the hall, they have guys now that are possibly in, then they have to add the Marvin Harrison, Tim Brown, TO, Randy Moss types. Once thats all thru, they have Larry Fitz (numbers are close to smiths right now), Reggie Wayne (way better stats then Smitty in most categories), And 3-4 other guys with comparable stats that are retiring at the same time. And then the slightly younger Brandon Marshall group guys with even better stats will be retiring. You act like they can just put in anyone they want, You have to realize they can only let a limited number in every year.

It just a shame Steve had probably 4 or 5 years wasted by the coaches not playing him, injuries, and bad QB play.
