Who is the best defensive end of this generation. I know Ware wasn't a defensive end until this upcoming season, and his numbers should drop now that he won't be playing a 3-4 OLB and lining up wide and getting favorable matchups vs tight ends and running backs, but he still has several years left to prove he can be a good DE.

IMO, Peppers is the most dominant and most complete of all the great defensive ends of this generation, followed by Jared Allen who is also fairly well rounded DE but not as good as Peppers, considering Allen likes to avoid the run responsibilities and just pin his ears back and chase the QB like Ware and Freeney do. Freeney is a one trick pony pass rusher.

Peppers >>>> Ware, Allen, Freeney.

Peppers >>>> Charles Johnson and Greg Hardy combined.

Peppers is more well rounded and does everything well, from getting tackles, sacks, forced fumbles, fumble recoveries, passes defensed, interceptions, blocked kicks, etc.

Oh you mean when I showed you that Charles Johnson is a better player than Peppers now? And you had nothing but excuses to back it up?

The Panthers DE tandem is better now than it ever was with Peppers. Saying that Peppers is better than Hardy and CJ combined is retarded because Hardy alone outplayed Peppers last year by himself.

Also I wonder how Peppers feels now that Chicago is going down gutter while we have Cam, a premier MLB, the best RB core in the game, Greg Olsen, Star, and two 10 top DE's that already out playing him for half the money.

having a better statistical year =/= being a better player

i can't say for sure because i'm not an experienced tape-watcher, but i'd say peppers is better than cj. cj is a good d-end, peppers is an other-worldly talent.

OP: you won't find rational discussion about julius peppers here.

Actually I showed you quite vividly that Peppers was the better player, go back and read the thread. No, Peppers and Rucker were a notch above CJ and Hardy. It was a bit brash of me to say that Peppers is better than them both combined, two really good DE's are probably more important than one really great one? Maybe. I'm not even a Bears fan, I'm a Redskins fan, but I do believe the Bears have plenty of talent, Corey Wootton, Henry Melton, Stephen Paea, Lance Briggs, Charles Tillman, Tim Jennings, Jay Quitler, haha, Matt Forte, Brandon Marshall, etc. I think the Bears will be better than the Panthers this year, we shall see. And no, CJ and Hardy are not outplaying Peppers by any stretch of the imagination.
