He said he’s been negotiating with Carolina over the past few months.
“Right now I’m still negotiating,” said Boychuk. “I’m just waiting to see what my options are and hopefully I’ll have a contract here soon.”
Boychuk wants a one-way contract, but is realistically setting his sights on a solid two-way deal.
“I’m basically at the point in my career where I need to start producing and showing results at the NHL level,” he said.
To do that, he will use what he’s learned over this tumultuous year.
“The biggest thing is trying to build off last year. It was a great experience to go to Pittsburgh. I learned a lot while I was there and took that to Nashville with me,” he said. “I got that confidence back and realized that yes I can play in the NHL.”
Now he awaits the call for the Carolina Hurricanes training camp next month.
