I will reserve any opinions until the rubber hits the road. Can they pull their collective heads out of arz in two weeks? I don't know why they are not executing , is it talent? Is it coaching? Vanilla preseason mean nothing games? We will know sept 8 what the truth is, until then its all speculation on what they are going to be.

Lack of talent on the O line and lack of talented depth. Also lack of talent in the secondary.

..so if something is vanilla execution does not matter ?

What will the excuse be in week 1, 2, 12?

Rest assured, there will be one.

So what is the difference between other teams who are running vanilla game-plans and having success vs the Panthers who are also running the same vanilla plays and are doing jack-squat.

They have the talent to successfully run their basic plays?

And, a lot of teams basic stuff is more aggressive in nature....and that helps them a lot in preseason ball

If you don't like the idea of doing more player evaluation then scheme analysis in the preseason then pick another team to root for.

This is something Gettelmen will want no matter who is coach.

The offense reminds me of the one we saw in the 2010 preseason, and so do the comments about it.  The difference now is that we have Cam Newton instead of Matt Moore, which is a serious upgrade.  We also have Mike Shula instead of Jeff Davidson, which may or may not be...

Cam Newton calls its “bread and butter” plays and apparently leaving out the jelly.

Who eats butter and jelly on their bread?

Pretty much everyone who has ever eaten breakfast.

The offense we've seen in the preseason is not a good example of what we'll see in the regular season imo. Here is my guess as to what our offense will look like in the regular season. Remember last season? Increase the number of read option runs and designed QB runs, and throw in a lot of screen plays to our new scat back, and mix in some play action with deep passes. RR is not insane, he's not going to run the garbage we're seeing this preseason. If he does then expect RR and the rest of the coaching staff to be fired after we have a losing season. RR is going to use Cams legs to try and keep his job, and we'd all do the same.

i get the lack of gameplanning and true offense being installed(i refuse to use that flavor in a sentence right now), but you still have to be at least a little concerned about lack of execution.

Last year in Preseason, Newton was 16/32 for 196 yards, 2TD, 0 INT, 3 sacks, 2 fumbles lost, and he rushed 5 times for 32 yards.  Overall rating of 90.1 in three games.

So far this year he's 11/23 for 128 yards, 1 TD, 1 INT, 0 fumbles, 1 rush for 5 yards, and an overall rating of 61.5.

Not time to panic yet, although his YPA are down a lot.  I think he tends to play better when the games are real.

Exactly....

We have seen no runs by Cam...virtually no play action pass.....this is NOT the offense that we will see in the season.

Although the OLine does concern me.
