If we beat the Seahawks week one, will the talking heads around the NFL jump on the Panthers nuts or continue to overlook us?

Yeah, I know right. The only positions they have that's better then our team are their secondary, and offensive line. Everything else is a wash or we're better.

They have better coaching so far,IMO. They're also superior at failed drug tests. I just hate that "no way we can win" mentality. Esp. When last years game could have gone either way.

How many chickens is that now?  Keep on counting, but beware...they have yet to hatch.

Also...I don't think we are going to beat Seattle.  I just don't.

No, they'll just talk about how the Seahawks gave it to us, just needed to knock off some rust this game, or just focus on what went wrong for them. Basically it'll still be all about Seattle and not us.

I was talking about position players. The coaching is extremely obvious at this point. You would be hard pressed to find a lot of fans that would pick Rivera over too many coaches.

Fans overreact to single games, it's the first game of the season, not the Super Bowl some here are trying to make it out to be.

It's a very big test, IMO. Seahawks are a great team right now and beating them would instill a confidence the team might otherwise not have had.

I certainly want a win obviously. But logically speaking a loss to such strong team does not mean you suck. However, if they lose I see a meltdown of Titanic proportions.

Winning against Seattle would be nice but only if we can keep it up. If we win against Seattle and lose to the Bills on the road we are the same as if we lose to Seattle and win against Buffalo.  You still end up 1-1.  It doesn't matter who you beat as long as you beat 10 or 11 games during the year.

Nah, they'll say it was an off week for the Seahawks and we took advantage.

You'd think the media would give more respect to a small market team that's had 4 winning seasons in its 18 season existence.

Well said and quite true.

Everyone needs to remember 2 things about the national media:
1) Big market teams draw ratings so they are always deemed worthy of attention

and

2) Smaller market teams must be good to get any significant attention

The Panthers are not a large market team, so they will always be shortchanged by the media unless we become a consistently good team.

People should stop wishing for respect until it is earned on the field. The only other alternative is to somehow cram a few million more people in the Charlotte area, and that's probably not going to happen anytime soon.
