Every player on every team goes thru the schedule looking for wins and losses. So do the analysts and talking heads, right now we are looking like a win to most of our opponents, I mean seriously who do we scare? We lost to friggin KC last year. We struggled with Mamas Frijoles Oakland. We intimidate no one, and the only way to shake up this league that this year will be any different is to win early and often.

Even when we win during the preseason, they show Cam throwing an interception, making it look like we lost and Cam sucks. That is our narrative right now and I am sick of it! Rivera has a bad track record, Shula has a bad track record, Cam has a bad track record and this team has a bad track record.

I don't live in NC, and outside of your state nobody respects you, he'll even football fans in state don't respect your team (per huddle posts), to add to that stink is the bobcats/hornets. The only fear generated by your state comes from the college basketball teams. Many are feared and respected!

We lose that first game and our team will fade even farther into the media abyss...

Winning is a habit, it starts in practice, you don't plan for chip Kelly's offense the week of the game by running wind sprints. It's too late then, you start running sprints the first day of training camp, if they run 140 plays during training camp, you run 140+ plays during your training camp. My local HS football team is probably in better shape than the panthers. They send coaches to universities with big athletic depts. to get new training methods. Most of the coaches on the staff have collegiate playing and coaching experience. They have an indoor football practice facility, and a weight room better than most of the colleges in this state not named Auburn or Alabama. They have the multiple thousand dollar x/o system for watching game film, they play teams from out of state on a regular basis so they can be nationally ranked. In other words they have a system that pretty much guarantees 10+ victories a year and 3 state championships in the past few years. Then they hired a coach from a school that never had beat them, and last year using his system they lost several games.

I remember some one on this site saying that the eagles might do well for about 12 games then, their players would be worn out. Let me ask you this...

If we could win 10 of the first 12 games, and then we lost the rest, wouldn't that still be a better team than the Panthers have been in over five years.

I'll take further

This team looked abysmal against the eagles

What does Rivera do, he takes them bowling vs practice

Seriously. Bowling over practice

Some how I can't see the elite coaches in this league doing that

Just finished watching NFL special on Jimmy Johnson last nite, he talks a lot about sports psychology, says if you are tired you are a coward in the game, it affects how you think and how your opponent thinks.

When was the last home opener we won?

Fun facts:

1. We have had four playoff seasons.

2. 3/4 of those years we won our home opener

3. 3/6 of our opening-day victories have resulted in playoff-qualifying seasons.

Yay!

It's as close to a must-win as a non must-win game can be.

To summarize

If we made the playoffs, we probably won our opener. But winning our opener only gives us a coin toss' chance of going the playoffs.

(Losing, however, gives us less as less than 10% chance, (1 in 12 opening day losses) so lets hope we win.)

Oh, ok. So a season opener at home. Little misleading since home opener is a term and not every season opens at home.
