Retire that man's jersey.

One day contracts are great and all, but Jake deserves even more recognition than that.

Don't worry. Future players will still have plenty of numbers to choose from.

I went to school with a girl who personally knew Jake. One day I was bitching to a friend about Jake giving away another game, and she turned to me and got all huffy and sht. She had some bouncy tits. Good times.

I think he deserves a spot in the ring of honor with Mills.  No doubt...

I never had a problem with jake as a leader. He has the ideal character you want a QB to have.  Its just those god damn INT's he threw at the most critical part of the games that made me want to jab hot pokers into my eyes everytime he threw the ball.

Never thought I'd see the day when Jake would wear cut off compressor shirt. Maybe it was a midlife crisis thing LOL.

Jake is one of my favorites. He led us to the most successful run in Panthers history. As sad as that may be.

A Super Bowl is not sad. The NFC Championship Games are not sad. The playoff berths and two running backs over a 1,000 yards are not sad. Marty Hurney is sad. He ran this franchise into the ground and let John Fox take the heat for it. Our past three years have been sad and it masks what has otherwise been a pretty successful young franchise.

All of the instant news today wipes people's memory of the past and gives them the attention span of a gold fish. It's not too long ago we were predicted to be the strongest team in the NFC and perennial playoff contender. Then Hurney came in which is all good and well. Then Hurneys draft picks got to the end of their rookie contracts and he didn't have the balls to let them walk.

Now we run an offense that is suitable for low cost running backs, and have the most expensive backfield in the NFL. We paid 75 mil to a 10 sack a year player, the other player with 10+ sacks gets around 1 mil a year. Beason was signed to an outrageous contract then got hurt. Unwise business decisions have led us down this dark and treacherous passage that will not be over until we begin to build in the mold of a championship team and franchise.

If you spoke out against Hurney's mega deals and inability to use and part with players......you generally got blasted on this board.

And you still get blasted for the most part suggesting we need to part with Hurney fan favorite player X after this year....part of building a good team is parting with guys who have been good players.

Difference between us and a team like Pitt or NE....they know you have to part with guys who can still play if you are building a good overall team. We lost sight of that IMO around 2004-5.....started hanging on to guys as a new approach

Yeah, and those were the people calling for Rivera to be fired mid season along with Hurney. Look who still has a job with the new GM.

In agent talks the agent probably giving them an amount and Hurney says, I think he's worth three times more than that.
