Is it worth the occasional personal foul penalty to have a safety who intimidates opposing receivers?

(and/or sometimes knocks them out)

It worked for the Ravens last year.

I don't have an answer though...

Not if it cost you first downs in key situations. Mitchell was lucky he didn't get one against T. Taylor and ill be the first to say it wasnt so much that it was a dirty hit. It was he stood over him and ran his mouth. He's a dirty player.

What's the point of having a safety who intimidates but doesn't do his job well?

If receivers actually fug up the catch as a result then yes Mr. Scot I take the tradeoff.

That's the heart of the question.

That's the heart of the question.

We can only judge it based on the entire sample size at this point.  MM hasn't proven that much.

Our Safeties philosophy appears to be 'stand and watch'

I think in all fairness Godfrey has been doing for the most part what he is supposed to be doing in this defense.  He will find some plays this season.
