Rivera says Travelle will play Left Guard

Can only roll him out so many times...the rollout is effective bc it is rarely done. How many times a game do you recall them doing it

Not just roll outs, but screens, dumps, whatever, put an extra guy on the R side line and/or in the backfield, and so on.  I know none of this SOLVES the problem, but in every game, the opposition has a strength to be addressed, and in our case, many times that will be a defensive front that can fairly easily penetrate our right side.  Do coaches not attempt to develop schemes to reduce the effect of these issues?  If not, I guess I can save blowing a grand on two or three games worth of club seats and we can speculate instead on what we are going to do with Clowney.  Just saying...are we really screwed before the season even gets into full swing (again)?

^^This. At least 1 side of the line can be decent. Everyone here acts like Silatolu was waiting on a pro bowl invitation. He was really bad the first part of last year and became just regular bad the last part. This preseason he was back to really bad and only the really bad play of Williams covered it up.

People bash Garry Williams like it's going out of style but give Amini a pass. It's frustrating tbh. Both guard positions were bad, if Wharton can solidify one side with Gross (who only has maybe 2 years left) then it's all the better. At least Cam will see the pressure coming from the right.

there was nothing really bad about amini.

Yes, he played better at the end, but he waa never bad.

First are you serious?  I miss sarcasm sometimes so I don't want to respond just in case you are trolling me.

I know I'll get flamed for saying this, but this falls on Gettleman.

It absolutely does. He chose to load up the defense and improvise from there.

Which i have no issue with. Could have upgraded to B- on both O and D. Instead he went A+ on D and left O at C-/D+.

I think it could work.

He played like a rookie at times. And he's gotten better.

I wonder if Amini injury is not serious as it sounds.....Rivera might be trying to light a fire underneath him for the bad Preseason  performance........I hope Amini & Kugibla can come back before week 1. I would like to see both on the field at the same time, having 2  Road Grader between Kalil would improve the run game & create pocket for Newton.

LT- GROSS (1) / CHANDLER (2)

LG- AMINI (2) / SCOTT (2)

C - kALIL (1) / BYERS (2)

RG- KUGBILA (1) / WILLIAMS (2)

RT- BELL (1) / WHARTON (2)

One thing that well help us immensely on the right side is having Tolbert beside cam on third downs. He will be able to chip and pick up blitzes much better than Williams, barber and Poole have this preseason.

I think when it comes down to it there's no way to effectively evaluate the efficacy of the line until after the first few games.

It's not quite panic time yet.
