-Schedule is tough and the Panthers are again on the losing side of close games. Cam again struggles with the game on the line. Supporting cast around him is questioned.
-Ted Ginn emerges as a reliable WR and takes the #2 role from LaFell by the end of the year. Potential to be #1 if he improves his hands.
-O-Line is a weakness all year and injuries rack up. By the end of the year they are starting guys off the street.
-Greg Olsen leads the team in receiving yards and TDs as Steve Smith misses time with injury. By the end of the year, Olsen is lining up as a WR.
-Secondary can't cover man-man and gets beat deep. Carolina leads the league in passes allowed over 40 yards. Josh Norman leads the team in INT's but also in passing yards allowed.
-Luke Kuechly cements himself as the best MLB in the game and is in the running for DPOY.
-Greg Hardy signs a big contract extension, but fails to live up to it, getting benched for a lack of effort by the end of the year. Charles Johnson however, has another big year and continues to prove he was worth the big contract.
-Mike Tolbert is the starting running back by the end of the year. Jonathan Stewart ends up on IR and doens't play a down in 2013. Deangelo Williams shows flashes of his former self early in the year, but slows down by years end. Barner looks good in limited action but has problems with fumbling.
And finally...after deliberating for weeks after the season and another year watching the playoffs from home, the coaching staff is fired. The team starts out strong but finishes poorly, in contrast to previous years. Carolina looks like a playoff team early but folds when the pressure mounts. Rivera's trademark.
