Panthers running back Armond Smith was ejected for kicking an opponent in a preseason win over the Baltimore Ravens on Aug. 22. On Friday, the league hit Smith with a $15,000 fine for the play.

» Carolina linebacker Luke Kuechly painted a masterpiece against the Ravens, but was flagged by officials for a hit to the head. The NFL, however, decided not to fine Kuechly, Rapoport was told.

Man I forgot Smith tried to junk-kick that dude.

I can't believe Kuechly was even considered for a fine.  That was barely even a call, let alone worth a fine.

Anyone who saw that ejection will not be the least bit surprised by this.

Too harsh. Hope players help him out. Not even sure if he can afford it. Dude may not even make the team

Yeah I have a rough time feeling bad for Smith.  He stood there and kicked a guy after a play, it's not like he delivered a marginally bad hit and got hammered with a huge fine.

Conscious decision to kick a man leads to a fine.  Not at all surprising.

Keek is getting superstar status already. No fine bitches! If that was a.j., his ass would be another example.

I watched the video 25+ times and I'm still not sure if Armond Smith was not trying to walk away and didn't realize he was there. His head wasn't even looking at him

Good.  It was a perfectly legal hit by Keek.  Would've been bullshit if he got fined.

The lack of a fine on Luke just proves that upon further review, the league office agrees that it was a bullshit call.

Players only have to pay the fine if they make the 53 man roster.

What I hate is that the NFL fines Armond Smith the same amount it would have fined Charles Johnson.  I think fines should be based on a small percentage of the player's salary.

For Smith, if he is cut, $15 K could be a large percentage of the man's salary.
