Cam is going to have an awful lot to do with whether the Panthers win or not.

As I will be there, and I love him with all of his flaws, I really hope he has his best day as a pro.

Rivera suddenly looks like a coach.

The defense and special teams play as good against a playoff team as they do scrubs.  Wilson is smart, accurate and patient, calm under pressure.  It will be interesting.  It seems like the bigger the moment, the bigger he gets.

I hope all the people on here who didn't buy tickets, buy some and show up.

It sure would be nice to walk out of BofA in September against a good team, a winner for a change.

Thanks for the post. I know you didn't mean any harm or ill will toward any player at all.

However with all due respect, this is whats wrong with Panther Nation sometimes.

Cam gets two full sentences of worry, critique and pressure cast upon him. However, Rivera (who's been a much worse Pro coach his first two years than Cam's been a pro QB), has only 4 words, without the ultimatums, expectations or pressure of cast upon Newton.  :thumbsd:

Who do you think is going to perform better on average [if you had to guess] during this game?.....I know.

Why isn't Rivera's seat constantly on the fire, and his coaching questioned (especially by outsider media, that doesn't even seem to know or care what he does/his role, or culpability on the team)?? And it's even worse, when Panther fans give Rivera a pass, and act like it's all on Cam if the team fails. We should know better.

And yes, I wish River the best!  And expect much better from him this year with presence of Dave Gettlemen (hopefully anyway).

OK, I digress, I'm back now!  :thumbsu:

You are kidding me right?

You took absolutely every thing I said not the way intended.

Newton does have to take the next step and just as other great QBs have done, make others better than they are.

He isn't the first QB to have abysmal o line...look to Pittsburg for the example. Or no running game look to Brady and Rogers.

A lot is on him and for this team to win he has to handle his business as a big time player making big time plays in big games.

If he does, how good or bad Rivera and the rest are wont matter.

..and yes like all players and people he does have flaws.

I don't think you read what I said correctly and are being defensive. Relax

I said, you spent more time discussing, worrying about Newton, while [essentially] giving Rivera a pass. I didn't criticize you (and even mentioned you probably meant no harm). I just asked, why is it Panther fans (and we know the National media) do this sometimes. It was more about Rivera than anything, anyone else.

It's not about Cam having faults (and every player has them, including him). No No. I just think Rivera has NOT been a NFL level Head Coach since he's been here, and has failed them many times, receiving little open, national criticism. However, Newton is held to a higher standard somehow, despite performing better. And to your statement: I've seen Cam play great, error free football  (like in Kansas City last year, and against Minnesota in 2011, etc.), and still lose cause of Rivera bonehead mistakes. So I'm not sure what you're saying? Sure Cam has made mistakes. No doubt. But Rivera's made a bushel load in comparison, and has been below standard in so many coaching/management areas. He's even admitted it himself (and how some of it has negatively affected Cam to boot). Case closed!

More importantly. I expect Cam to play well, and raise the team to a higher level (mistakes and all) practically every game. That's been his standard so far. And because of this, he's kept the Panthers in many a game his first two seasonos. I'm never certain if Rivera will coach well though during any game. And there in lies the problem, and gist of my point/response. It wasn't so much about Cam. It was more about Rivera (and how you presented it as an example).

Nonetheless, It is what it is. And I wish better from Rivera, and I'm rooting for him.

I hate to go off topic but, Wilson didn't even play that well the first 8 games of the season last year. It's shocking how people call him an elite QB same poo with Kaep.

Why has everyone forgotten that being a one year wonder is a thing? I wouldn't be shocked of Wilson or Kaep end up being busts.

I don't think either will be busts, but both had the benefit of very strong run games and defenses to take a TON of pressure off of them.

Those are luxuries Cam hasn't had.

Newton and rape- a- burger both get hit a lot because of one reason - they hold onto the ball too damn long.

the best o line in the nfl cant hold off defenders all day long while you dance arouund in the backfield deciding what to do with the ball -

On the flip side- they both make a lot of plays others can't.

not disagreeing, but  the cam huggers want it both ways - blame the o line when Newton gets hit, but swoon like schoolgirls when he makes a play when most other qb s would have gotten rid of the ball.

Green, Megatron, Brandon Marshall, Julio Jones and maybe Fitz. Rest I'd likely say would be a push either because of injuries, age or the fact that they're one trick ponies (I'm looking at you Mike Wallace)

Dez Bryant....he has his head on right for the moment. A change started last year. That dude is nasty. I'd have him on that list.

Fair assessment, but it's not restricted to the fans. The media gravitate's toward the QB. The OL rarely get their credit/scrutiny is justifiable amounts.

Football is the ultimate team sport.

I think where going to be a more complete team this year.....with Newton's progression and a Top 10 Defense we will make it to the playoffs.
