So its Thomas over Norman, Amini over Wharton and Mitchell over Mikell

Those guys came on late as opposed to being in camp and preseason. They will still play and rotate in so what is the problem?

Remember Mikell was on his couch for 31 other teams as well..gotta get him in playing shape first.

Norman will play as Captian moves to the nickle. Josh Thomas is a more consistant guy (as seen late last season). Norman, being a young guy needs to stay focused and hungry so...this is also a coaching/motivation technique.

Now if they are inactive you make this thread.

The panthers unofficial depth chart was released yesterday. I assume that's what you saw, I could be wrong but I'm pretty sure Rivera hasn't officially named the starters yet.

I'm pisst

It MATTERS who starts. It's super-duper important.

You can't convince me otherwise.

You can't!

Norman will get plenty of PT as we run a nickel set as much as anything else.  Never been excited about Mikel(what he was a pro bowler like 5 years ago? maybe?) and Wharton is off a major injury last year.  Lastly, a depth chart on ESPN is about as relevant as my depth chart on Madden.

Spazz much OP?

This defense is considered a highly accountable defense. That means that everyone has a job to do and has  a certain place they must be on every play.  Players must  be where they are supposed to be or breakdowns occur.  This is not a defense you can pick up in a week or two.  The whole reason we are looking so good is because the players finally get it and it took quite a while.  Sure we have upgraded at DT and have most guys healthy which helps, but the reason we struggled last year was due to lapses and guys not being fundamentally sound.

Norman is a great physical corner and will find his niche. His issue is whether he will be a good zone defender to go along with his press coverage skills. He needs to be sound in all phases and at this point they like Thomas more.

This can change in a hurry though.

The only thing that is 100% certain on Sunday is that I will be cracking a beer at 8am in a gravel parking lot whilst firing up the grill and blasting Hall & Oates greatest hits.

that sounds like heaven.

This little ESPN nugget is off topic, but not quite threadworthy.

Edit:  the graph doesn't transfer well, see it for yourself at http://espn.go.com/blog/carolina-panthers/post/_/id/187/josh-thomas-as-starter-for-carolina-panthers-shouldnt-be-a-surprise

Awesome being in last place without playing a game yet.
