Patriots are ruthless. They sign a guy one day. If he doesn't impress, 24hrs later they cut their ass.

The next time Gettis takes a poo, we'll have a thread about it.

Other than the fact they got his former team wrong  lol

I think I know what caused the mix up.

Pretty weak on their part though.

A little more info...

Saw that the original source for the info on Fua's tryout was Ravens Insider guy Aaron Wilson.  Shocked me that he'd screw that up.  He's always been pretty good.

So I looked it up on his Twitter and found his original page on NFP (link) which says this:

The New England Patriots worked out former Pittsburgh Steelers running back Jonathan Dwyer, former Carolina Panthers defensive lineman Sione Fua and former Green Bay Packers quarterback B.J. Coleman, according to a league source.

Near as I can figure, Yahoo screwed it up when they copied it.  Which is odd, given all they really had to do was cut and paste

I thought that too when I saw Aaron Wilson.  Maybe it was a typo that was later corrected on NFP after Yahoo cut and paste it or maybe Yahoo just fugged it up somehow

Thanks for clearing that up though

How will we win the Super Bowl now?

I'll miss Anderson Russell more than Gettis

I understand it's probably different depending on the player. What does one of these "Injury Settlement" type payments generally end up being? (Average Dollar Value) I was just curious. Does the player have any leverage? Is it a negotiated settlement? I would imagine there has to be some type of guideline or scale outlined in the CBA.

Go Panthers!

Fua may have a shot as a 34 DE, but he just doesn't have the lower body strength to anchor as a NT or even 43 0-1 tech.

The panthers team doctor makes an estimate on the number of weeks a player is expected to be out and they offer that. The player can get a second opinion and if it is higher they negotiate something in between.

He'll get an opportunity somewhere.  Hell he could end up back here later in the season.
