Cam becoming a dink and dunk QB?

61 posts in this topic

I'm not trying to hate on Cam or anything, but it seems to me like Cam is trying to much to "take what is given" instead of taking some shots down the field. I know people want to put this on Shula, but I thought I saw Lafell get open several times, and Ginn was open down the field atleast on one play, but Cam himself said he didn't throw it.

I know it's just the first game, but Cam's strength is throwing the deep ball and if he's is becoming too scared to do it, it could become a huge problem.

Saw him take plenty of shots within the 23 or whatever times he was able to throw. Lol the gameplan was brutal.

I think Cam was up against the best secondary in the NFL.....and you can't gamble against them like in other matchups.

I'm glad he's shown improvement in his short game, but he doesn't need to it at the cost of where he makes his real bread and butter at.

I believe he is being handcuffed with the play calls. He is just doing what he is suppossed too instead of what he can do. It just like Dean Smith was the only one that could hold jordan under 30

its not cam they've handcuffed him and put shackles on his whole game.

blame the coaching staff Cam not regressing he needs only and a offensive minded HC. I envy Kap in San fran

lafell, olsen, Edwards are trash

our O is cam, smitty and Dwill only

I don't want him to be exclusively dink and dunk, I do r want exclusively long ball. I want him to take what the defense gives, and take shots when he can.

It would have been nice to see him take a shot to Ginn. We heard so much about him taking the top off the defense. But that was Cam's decision. He played the majority of the second half with the lead and trusted his defense.

It would help if his receivers weren't dropping passes that travel more than 10 yards.

    • Could be. Hope to be.  I see the big time potential in both. In my opinion-The biggest obstical I see (not only with them but in many young players) is their self confidence. Taking it from "flashing" to "breaking out" or "to the next level" is an imaginary obstacle that stands in the way of a lot of players with potential. To get over the hump, it can take a play, a game or a season to get their mind right with the confidence that they can perform at another level.  KB and Funch have good coaching and all the skills necessary to be the guy, but in the end, they are human too. Most won't admit but the majority of people perform in a "fake it till you make it" environment so to speak.   Lack of confidence or conversely, proving to yourself you can do it, is not only important to the average Joe like you and I but to them as well.  Some guys get over the hump and exceed their own expectations enough to where it becomes standard practice. Others never quite get that bit of confidence or courage to take it one step above their self imposed ceiling.  Im optimistic so I think these two guys can break through. We will certainly have a good read on their direction this season.  PS- Did I use enough quotations?
