"Continuity", not "consistency".

Whatever it is, it didn't work.

Wasn't a big reason Shula was hired was because he agreed to a one year deal of continuity with the offense?

Basically this.

No OC talent wanted to come in for one year under Rivera, because there is no confidence in his ability to win.  Candidates knew he was on a short lease so more than likely they would be shown the door along with him, once a new coach is hired in the offseason.

Cam still needs to do a better job.  He isn't waiting for the play to develop and he needs to look off defenders and not stare down the receiver.

So now he's getting rid of the ball too quickly? So with this oline we want him holding the ball longer?

...that although overall it's a similar system, Newton and the offense are still adjusting to a new offensive coordinator.

Week one was their first 'live ammo' game under Shula. Thus, it's probably reasonable to expect a few issues and hiccups in the transition. Improvements in game two, even if they're only minor, will be a good sign.

If it still looks the same after week four or so, then I might be concerned. But for now, a glitch or two is to be expected.

It would be nice to see Shula call some deep plays to Ted Ginn..... we haven't had a deep threat in a while. It would also pull back the DB's and open up Olsen to the short game.
