Heel fans don't have to travel much, as we can be found all over the country.
Then why don't they show up for away games?

UNC doesn't travel at all outside of North Carolina
NCSU really only travels within their area (I think they get off trying to put more fans in the stands at Duke and Carolina)
Duke doesn't even travel to Wallace Wade Stadium
It is a shame really especially when you have a team like VT that brings a third of Lane Stadium to every game.
Now Basketball it is a different story, but you have sooo many fans that are fans of a basketball team and then fans of a different school in Football

There was lots of NC blue in Michigan a few months ago...If your talking exclusively about football, it's because it's been bad for a while. The fanbase traveled pretty well when Mack had them rolling. It's about winning.

Fans when they're winning, there's a term for that. On the tip of my tongue. There was lots of NC blue in Michigan a few months ago...If your talking exclusively about football, it's because it's been bad for a while. The fanbase traveled pretty well when Mack had them rolling. It's about winning.

It's a reality for all fanbases. I've seen empty games at Carter Finley, and I've seen their bleachers clear at halftime of games as well. All fanbases are prone to this. State fans are so burned by their programs, and desperate to separate themselves from UNC's long shadow, they believe football is the best possibility - it may be. But it doesn't help them that the powers that be in CH aren't going to sit idly by and let that happen.
