Doesn't make a difference to me at all, but DG could have some personal or lifestyle hang ups..

Cam's stats are basically identical year over year. We want improvement.

The obvious one for me is completion percent.  He is typically lower half of the league. He makes up for it in his run game, but if his completion percent went up by 5% that equates to 1 or 2 extra passes a game which would likely translate into extra wins.

I get that some more offensive support would help however there are some QBs who maintain accuracy with very weak O lines...

It's fine wanting Newton's comp% to go up, but you can't ask him to be near the top of the league in YPA while doing so. He graded out very well when looking at how many yards per throw avg he was chucking for his first two seasons.

The first game this year where we asked him to throw a shallower game, he hit damn near 70% and would have been over if Olsen hadn't forgotten how to play football.  No excuses for last week, he played like poo.

I think you can.

If you rank the top 10 QBs in YPA last year they all had completions significantly higher than Cam. All of them 5-10% higher. The best QBs have high ratings in both.

I think that is what we will eventually need from Cam for him to be a playoff type QB whether you think it is on him or his support cast.

It remains to be seen as to what will happen to Newton and the front office in the next year or so.

His game, as far as passing, seems to have regressed a bit, or teams have figured out his game and are taking away his bread and butter, leaving him the types of passes difficult for him to make.

They seem to be giving him mulitple opportunities for the long ball last week and he did not cash in.  Crossing patterns are also difficult for him.  His best is the 10 yd dig and throwing a fastball to a receiver when he turns around.  If they jump that route, they are limiting him.  He will have to learn all throws and execute them consistantly to overcome this.

He cannot run the read option, or, they are telling him to make it look like a read and just hand it off anyway.  Because DWill usually gets nailed about a tenth of a second after getting the ball.  Defenses recognize that Cam generally is not going to run and just cover DWill.  We are predictable to say the least.  Game planning for us is not that difficult.

Gman did say something before the last game that was interesting.  He said of the offense, "it is up the the line to make the right calls, and up to Cam to make the right reads" .  Not sure what you can take away from a public statement like that, probably nothing, but he was saying that betweek Kalil and Cam, they can do better.  Just sayin...

JR is a smart man. My personal opinion is that this year was a wash and the fans got dooped. He brought in Gettleman to clean it up and get it ready for the next coach. No reason to bring a new coach into this mess. Why else are we stashing away money and damn near the whole team are on 1 year deals.

I hope he's up to something like that.

All these goofballs screaming for Cam to win in these conditions, lol.

Simply put, some of you clowns just don't deserve a winning franchise. Truth hurts.

Nevermind that we have a lame duck head coach again a mere three years after the last one and we've wasted all this time with and an HC, OC, and QB coach hired on the cheap to appease the owner. The buck stops at JR.

But hey, suck it up Cam. You've gotta win, or get out!

How the fug do we say "okay we tried" when the best person Cam has had to throw to is fuging Steve Smith? No weapons in this offense at all

Didn't he set all those rookie records with essentially the same WR crew?

Hurney was a damn beat writer before he was the GM

GMan has at least been around football personnel and has been apart of Super Bowl organizations. Talent evaluator. College scouting.

The guy knows the game. There's no denying that. He was a major upgrade to Hurney. Loved the two DTs we got and a great value pick in Barner

He needs at least 3 offseasons to be judged IMO

Saying Hurney was an incompetent hire doesn't really help the DG is good argument.

If Gettlemen was such a great hire...I would think at least one other team would have entertained an interview. I think there is stuff to question.

I mean we say no one hired Ron and we should of seen it coming....well no one would talk to DG.

I will give him 3 years....just not this praise he hasn't earned.

Gettlemen's last work in NY likely includes scouting David Carr here.....again, another question.

What went down in Buffalo so many years ago doesn't ease all my worries

I was comparing their backgrounds. So that does support my argument. Gettleman is a football guy. Hurney was a reporter. I'm willing to bet Gettleman knows more who can play and who can't.

David Carr signed as a back up. Like who really cares lol

You're still one of my favorite posters CRA.

You think every coach and GM wants a Vick/Cam offense? You think they all want to scrap what they believe in to work with someone unique?

Do you not think some simply want a square peg that fits what they believe in?

Look at our OL....and tell me DG is all in on Cam. It is year 3. DG doubled dipped on DT bc it was a safe post 2013 move. Too many holes were in our roster for him to leave them all unaddressed but one

First of all, I wouldn't lump Cam in with Vick.

Second of all, I still don't understand what Gettleman has said/done to make anyone think he's not on board with Cam... in fact he's said many things to the contrary.

Gettleman drafted based on his board, which told him Star and KK were the best talent available when each of those picks came up based on our needs... then he drafted OL, so it's not like he totally ignored the OL. Did anyone perceive our OL as a weakness back in April?

You make hay while the sun is shining, it was the deepest DT class in many years and we had major needs @ the position so Gettleman decided to get that taken care of.

I am not lumping them as the same type player....

I am lumping them both in the "if you draft this guy you have to build what you do around him and not try to make him fit a dated scheme" category.

Not every NFL GM/HC wants to be inventive. Same want there old black and white approach and believe that is how you win. Stay true to it.

He drafted a project lineman. That isn't drafting for a need. That is drafting for the future and future needs.

We had tons of needs.....Gettlemen drafted 1. He drafted guys that also just happen to fit a Gettlemen D. He didn't touch anything else other than rent one year bandaids. Ignored glaring holes....

Having a HC you didn't hire but know he is on the hotseat and likely fired soon....impacts what you do and more importantly it impacts what you don't do
